If I do not get my real license by then, do you think I could use my paper copy and a passport as proof of ID? Yes. Or a social security card. Passport is good though, it has a picture. Going to DMV today? You might get one back in time. |

Member 66 The Woodlands, TX | Subject: RE: Ironman Texas OWS pratice was nice this morning--Thansk TJ for setting that up!! They announced water temp was 76 if I remember correctly, but it felt warmer than that and I was plenty warm in just a suit. Small chop on the way out because of wind blowing from south but overall nice. As mentioned before, the lake is plenty wide to handle all the racers. There was talk about how narrow the canal is and how it could be a cluster when it gets to that. Again, we will be hitting the 'canal' portion close to the 2 mile point so hopefully it will be thinned out by then. If not, the canal is still plenty wide. A lot of people were in wetsuits so I wonder if they got too warm. I would probably say it was a 50/50 split on wetsuit vs. non wetsuit out there. Keep on Keeping on |

Master 1468 Montgomery, Tx | Subject: RE: Ironman Texas dodgersmom - 2011-04-30 8:07 AM So, on my long ride yesterday my car was broken into and my wallet stolen along with all my credit cards, USAT card and drivers license. If I remember right, when we moved to Texas 6 years ago when you apply for a new license, you get a paper copy and it could be several weeks before your permanent photo license comes in the mail. So it has me concerned about registration. If I do not get my real license by then, do you think I could use my paper copy and a passport as proof of ID? Just add this to one more thing I need to worry about. Why are there a$$es in the world? These idiots were obviously casing out the parking lot and when we left the car after refilling they had to have broken in. We started out again at 2 and they attempted to use my credit card at a gas station at 2:20. Now my day is full of replacing my shattered car window and replacing credit cards. That stinks! Your passport will be fine do not let this get you down. Reprint USAT card from website and your golden. Now go train |

I'm satisfied with my bike and run, my swim volume was disastrous this month because of work getting in between. All the hay is in the barn, now let's burn it all!!! |

Thanks...I really tried to raise my bike mileage this month (which I did)...it's kinda easy when you are a grad student who is only taking 1 class and is NOT doing their dissertation...I figure this will be the last time when I will have the freedom to train when I want (before I enter the "real world" this august), so I've dedicated this entire semester to IMTX. |

Satisfied with my bike and run volume... swim on ther other hand was TERRIBLE. Work, schedule, wife and three girls got me there. Starting taper Monday so I will make up for it since swimming does not tax me like b/r; and b/r volume will be low anyways. Congrats to everyone here for the awesome training! Last 3 hr run tomorrow, should land around 18-21 miles. Edited by bridgeland 2011-04-30 10:20 PM |

Regular 240 Cypress, TX | Subject: RE: Ironman Texas Well, that is as good as it is going to get for me. Just wrapped up a 21 mile run in 3:03. Lost 9 pounds of water, and that was with this slight overcast. Let the taper begin! I know my wife and daughters are more excited about the taper than I am. They kept reminding me about it all weekend! I think today I just realized this IM is really happening. What a great feeling to have made it this far; I can finally see the light now at the end of the tunnel. Awesome April everyone!!!

That's optimal timing to hit that run. It will be closer to the start run time of the IM.Family commitments this afternoon forced me to hit it earlier. The run was HOT...but the wind made it better....DID I SERIOUSLY SAY THAT?!?! The hurricane force winds kept my body cool and my sweat rate lower. Overall I threw down 19 miles in 3:04. Not really pleased with my pace, but I did everything race like, did a 15-30s walk every mile to simulate walking through aid stations. Now, come race day, I'd be happy to be around 19 miles in 3 hours!!! Overall, I kept my pace good and can honestly say I have enough in the tank to push out those last 7 miles! |

Master 1468 Montgomery, Tx | Subject: RE: Ironman Texas I started my last long run just after noon today. I enjoyed every minute of the run today and I am in a happy place overall. About 10 miles in I heard a lady say something to me. I asked her to repeat, she said "I see a future Ironman". I told her thank you and that was the plan. It gave me chills. I had my tri suit on and could not believe she knew what it was. After my run I felt good enough to mow the yard, weed eat, and trim the hedges. It is amazing how far I have come through this journey.

Extreme Veteran 492 Frisco | Subject: RE: Ironman Texas Does anyone know if there will be any type of shuttle service between T1 and Northshore Park? Not that its a long walk, but I was thinking more for my family so they wouldnt have to walk from T1 to the swim start and then back over to T1 afterwards. I didnt see any mention of this on the website or in the athlete guide. |

Damn! Very cool man. I wasn't in to bad of shape after my run. Went on with the family birthday party at a park and played around (light) with the kids. But there was no way that my yard was going to see some love after my run. I don't think I could have pushed the mower, weedeater etc without some soreness. Awesome job! |

Extreme Veteran 565 Silicon Valley | Subject: RE: Ironman Texas Does anyone have a map of the bike course? The cartoon map on the website isn't as helpful as I had hoped and I tried to follow the course on google maps using the turn-by-turn directions but didn't make it half way through before getting lost. Maybe someone local who has been on the course can help? |
