Where? Well... tbc but here is the current list: San Fran, Seattle, Chicago (not sure on this one), Boston, NYC, DC, Philadelphia, Richmond, Atlanta, Tampa (or wherever the Florida people are), Memphis/New Orleans (tbc - might have to be dropped), San Antonio (once again tbc), Phoenix, Las Vegas and then back to San Fran Wow! That's a long list. But I guess if you're gonna make a dream plan you have to plan big! Well thats the culled list... there are a lot of places i want to see not on that list... Which is why I cant decide how to make it happen! Plus there is the time off work issue... Yeah...I was looking at that list wondering how you were going to take the year off from work to jet set around the US! edit - TOPPAGE (I think I just beat out Cat by the hair of my chinny, chin, chin. First: The Bike focused winter maintenance Then: The 10 week intermeadiate oly plan (with obvious ammendments for my running) sound like a good plan - so, do the powers that be come with a gold membership? I've been curious Lol - yeah... with general advice.. on the BT plans... Im still not convinced thats the right approach as Im not sure they got that I was in Australia.. Because the advice originally sounded like it was based on my next season being in the US... |

Yeah...I was looking at that list wondering how you were going to take the year off from work to jet set around the US! Well thats the issue... US doesnt do a Working Holiday program so its not really an option... So I would end up only being in each place for a few days which could be really annoying! Id be SO sick of travelling after that! And the thing is it costs so much to come over that you dont want to just fly in and fly out if that makes sense. Ive been to NYC before but all the rest would be new... Im a good tourist in that i can do a lot in one LONG day... but you need a couple of recovery days in there too! |

It will probably be 2010 before I can afford it. I've never done a whirlwind tour type vacation. I always pick one, maybe two, cities to see and then traipse about at my leisure for a few days. I hate having a hard-core itinerary. It seems like it sucks the fun out of it and you end up more tired than before you left. It's hard to find the balance between "I really want to see this" and "I really just want to sit at a cafe for an hour and relax". |

That should motivate ya! have you signed up for one? I'm signed up for the Marine Corp PT Challenge. hmmmmm, am I the only one that isn't? Come on, Beth...give into the peer pressure. Be a joiner! LOL! but, join what? I'm still not sure there are like 3 or 4 challenges posted We're all doing the Marine Corps challenge so there should be no question which one you're doing! I'm doing it because it will keep me moving during my unstructured training months. Even if you just walk or stretch 30 minutes a day, it counts. I'm so looking forward to being able to just do whichever activities I feel like for a couple months. |

You don't, you just have to commit to the challenge. It requires 30 minutes of activity 5 days a week. So you can decide to do whatever activity seems right, which is why I like it so much. If I feel like running, I can run. If I feel like swimming, I can swim. Or if I just want to stretch and do some strength training, that would count too. It seems like less pressure, plus a nice incentive to get out and keep active 5 days a week. Join Phil and I are going to be teammates, you should have Travis put you with us! |

I hate having a hard-core itinerary. It seems like it sucks the fun out of it and you end up more tired than before you left. It's hard to find the balance between "I really want to see this" and "I really just want to sit at a cafe for an hour and relax". Sounds like we travel the same way. I like days where you do nothing but experience the people and place. And I like to keep a loose itinerary so I can change my mind on the go. I love traveling. I'm going to miss it until I can find someone compatible to travel with See I prefer to travel solo - where its safe to do so. Can make it a bit awkward in the evenings if you arent sure where you should and shouldnt go alone but is awesome for just being able to follow a flexible schedule! They type of vacation... well my ideal US one would be to rent a car for the most part but realistically getting enough time off work to be able to do that kind of holiday isnt very realistic... So its either miss some places out... or do a different sort of vacation. Im a big fan of cities... and really the only way to see one in my opinion, is to put your walking shoes on a hit the pavement and see where it takes you. If you have specific things yuo want to see great - but leave lots of time for just walking around. It worked for my in NYC - I saw the places I wanted to but I walked a lot too... far more interesting than just hitting the tourist places and nothing else! |
