Day 550, 17.1 miles. I have been having a good taper so far but still have two weeks to go until the Anne Arbor marathon.

I meant to comment on this yesterday..."starting to pay off" is both a validating and depressing thing to read:) Every time I think of bagging on the running every day idea, I think of you, your mpw, and your streak. So solid. Very inspiring.

Remember I was once where you are now and thanks I am really enjoying pushing myself these days. We'll see how much this 50 year old body can take, going to be 51 this year.

My streak is nothing compared to some of the folks on this list. I am number 363 and the number guy is retiring his streak on the day he run 45 years in a row.

3 miles (not sure exact distance, my watch died about a mile in) for #52. Incorrectly posted yesterday's run as 52, don't want to get a day ahead of myself!!!

Question for you 100+ guys: What's the closest you've come to bailing out and missing a day? Or maybe there's never really been a day where it almost happened just because you're so determined? Just curious, as it might be ammo to keep me motivated as well!

I have not come close to bailing.  On a few occassions I found myself running at some weird times or places, but they are so rare I can't really remember specifics.  I don't plan much for myself, for the most part I just fit workouts in, but I ALWAYS look to tomorrow for when I have a chance to run....and I do it.  And yeah, what Lumber said I say.....one day it'll happen, but today is NOT the day I stop.

#11, 25% of the way to my immediate target. Happy I've made it through both rain and a weekend full of non-running activities planned by my wife.

I was sicker than a dog with the flu earlier this year and that was probably the one time I thought about not running but I sucked it up and ran 2 miles on my treadmill to keep the streak alive. Other than that it is a part of me now, I just head out a run every day. I am so committed to the streak now that it will take something catastrophic to make me stop. I hope to still be streaking when I am 70, less than 20 years to go to get there.

Day 552, 10.1 miles with 12 strides in a light rain. I enjoyed the cooler temps for one more day, back into the 80's and humid for the next few days.

Good stuff, guys. I'm starting to get to that same point, where it is just a given that I am going to get the run in. I'm thinking about it a day or two ahead of time like Left Brain said. I'm just trying to keep myself on track as race season starts. I am really close to my first few races, and just trying to keep my mind focused on doing it so I keep it going through the day before and the day after my races, as I have usually taken one or the other of those two days off!

You guys are all incredibly impressive and have definitely inspired me.

My new Garmin 910XT arrived yesterday so today was my first day playing with it. This is my second 910, which replaces my previous unit that currently resides at the bottom of Tempe Town Lake thanks to a massive quick-release fail error. I only had that one for about a month before losing it. Oh, and the official length of time I had to wait to replace it without my wife going "postal on me" turned out to be 6 months + a new Coach purse for her.

I am curious how this happened, I have the quick release for the 910 and mine snaps in solidly. You really have to twist it hard to get it to release.

Sorry, just saw this as I haven't been near my computer much due to long holiday weekend.. I lost my watch at the swim exit at IMAZ, waiting in line to get pulled from the water. The line to my left emptied, and the volunteer there grabbed my left arm/wrist on my watch, and pulled me up. As he pulled me, the watch twisted, released and sank right there. The swim exit at AZ is more like the edge of a pool, rather than a gradual sloped beach exit. It's about 20 feet deep and the water is very dark. With a few hundred folks struggling to get out of the water just behind me, all in the same spot, I wasn't about to go diving for it.

I don't fault the guy for it at all. My fault for offering my left instead of right arm. It sucked because I'd spent all my time training by HR, and had nothing to gauge my performance on the day (which turned out, if I'd known how bad I was doing, thanks to a pulled groin at bike mile 40, I might have gotten frustrated and quit.) Instead, I limped in for a 16:21 finish time and got my medal and a hug from Linsey Corbin. I remember seeing my wife and kids with about 5 miles to go, and had no idea of what time of day it was... If I had 15 mintues to finish the last 5, or 3 hours. It was a crazy day, but a LOT of fun. I'm considering Lake Placid for 2014. Me and IM have some unfinished business.

If you are looking for a day off you can run just before midnight to get your run for that day and then run another mile or more after midnight for your next day run. Then you will have over 24 hours off to rest. I try to do this if possible before a race to have a good rest before the race. I have only done this once but it is nice.

#53 - 3.6 following 2K pretty hard in the tank.

I usually am an evening runner, so I think my plan for approaching race days will be to get up early the morning before and get my run in, so I don't have to do the evening before a 7AM triathlon. I'm not much of a morning person, but I need to switch that up for races anyways so it won't be that big of a deal.

I'm taking this thing to at least 100!!!
