Champion 6656 | Subject: RE: Ghoulie August Assatar Challenge- Run or else I'm currently updating myself on the ways of the swimming world. Pan Am Games start in a few days and one of the guys from my club made the team to go! So so cool. I swam with his older brother and I remember this kid when he was 9 years old and now he has made a Senior National team! Wicked! I was reading the blurb he put on the swimming canada site and he said his older brother (the one I swam with) was one of his biggest influences because of his dedication to school and swimming. Awwww! |

Champion 6656 | Subject: RE: Ghoulie August Assatar Challenge- Run or else I'm feeling kind of anti tri sports post HIM and not feeling 100% this week. So I have decided instead of doing my 25km run today that I am going to do something else for the day just to have fun. I can do the run later in the week. So I'm going to go to a zumba class! and then a yoga class after. Zumba just looks hilarious. I've wanted to see what it was for awhile, so I figure because its on at 10 I should just go and have a good time. I'll probably be doubled over laughing the entire time...but that's okay. Need to get motivated again for marathon training. This is how I have decided to get that. Haha. If you need a laugh: ZUMBA! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zu1MAzQBZ0k&feature=related I unfortunately do not have an outfit like those with me in Victoria to wear to zumba Laters! Have a good Sat everyone! |

MotoQueen 13195 | Subject: RE: Ghoulie August Assatar Challenge- Run or else Bill, I haven't read any farther, but your son actually seems to have some "valid" reasons for wanting to not be a part of that team. If you do make him stick with it, you may need to talk to the coaches to find out if the team is being worse than normal, or is this the norm that coaches put up with nowadays. i would never put up with that behavior from my players when I coached or was team mom. I would not want my son/child learning that behavior like that is acceptable and the fact that he does not want to be around it to me is healthy. Of course if you son has a track record of quitting things, then that is a whole other thing. |

He will have some stories to share with you when he gets older - LOL Hee hee - my mother and father split my sports. Mom was hockey, dad was baseball and mom was MUCH tougher. I remember the year we could start checking. Becuase I was so big (and slow) compared to the other kids, she was annoyed that I wasn't hitting anyone. She took me into the attic and insulted me until I knocked her on her behind and under an old table we had up there. After the look of shock wore off, she got up cheering. My father was white as a sheet because she had nearly smashed her head into the table. Up and downs, squats with no weights, shooting on a plastic sheet until my arms hurt...yep, she was the one you would have thought was in the military. Crazy parent stories are the best - you must give you son lots of them!! OMG!!! You knocked down your mom!!! |

Champion 6656 | Subject: RE: Ghoulie August Assatar Challenge- Run or else ZUMBA!! So much ridiculous fun I can't even describe it...you just have to watch the youtube video. Hahaha. I really enjoyed my first zumba experience and I will be rounding up some girls to go in Edmonton. I had fun, but it would just be ridiculously fantastic with a group of girls I know (or guys if they really want to go). Hahahaha. I feel really awkward though...I probably look like a spastic goose...well at the beginning anyways...haha...its so hard to flow when your hips, shoulders, arms, legs, azz, abdomen...everything are used to swim, bike, run...haha...Eventually I got the hang of it (I think)...I was told I was really good by the instructor...but instructors say that all the time...haha... You have to read down past the movie part (I don't know why I have so many things that can be directly related to this blog...but it happens...) Expectations vs. Reality. I am not Beyonce...haha...or Shakira.. http://hyperboleandahalf.blogspot.com/2010/08/expectations-vs-reality.html |

Champion 6656 | Subject: RE: Ghoulie August Assatar Challenge- Run or else Ooooh also I got to do the Zumba class for FREE!!! Bonus! Now off to pack...I think I have underestimated how much stuff I had here from what I brought home when I went home for the race. I was good until I realised I had my swim equipment...board, fins, paddles, snorkel, pull buoy...ya...haha..I'll figure out a way to make it happen. Seems like everyone has had a decent day so far! |

I've checked in to my flight, have my e-boarding pass on my BB, showered...ready to go! Tomorrow at 9am. Home! I never thought I would be so happy to go back to Edmonton. Haha. I must really love Edmonton deep down inside...this might last 2 more months...until it snows in October. I'm so excited for the upcoming week! |

And I should probably get some projects done around the house while the kids (and hubby) are out of my hair... Have fun at your BBQ. How did you manager to get out of the family reunion? Um... lert's just say... I am working. Yeah, that's my story...and I am sticking to it. LOL. Actually it was hubby's story. I would have been more honest and dealt with a couple years of sideways looks and mistrust from my inlaws. It's weird to me that they would react better to finding out they were lied to than told the truth to start with. The truth is, a good friend of mine, who is also one of my workout buddies and a memeber of the tri club will be moving in another 6 week. The BBQ was the end of summer swaray (sp?) for the tri club, an as she reminded me, the last club event she will be attending. So, some of my favorite people, relaxing, sleep in my own bed, no long drive (ick, I hate long drives); vs. long drive, pull trailer up there or get used to the many dogs barking all night (while I sleep in SIL's bed and she sleeps God knows where), keeping my kids in line, disciplining my kids in front of my inlaws without backup from hubby, packing up to leave, packing up to come home, driving a long time, cleaning out the trailer after we get home, etc etc etc. Ugh. I also have the TV remote all to myself this way. |
