It may be that your buddy is riding the same as you but make sure to check. No surprises come race morning!! The wrong cassette could be devastating on a climb. What is the cassette? Is that the teeth found in the rear that the chain runs on? Why does that matter? I'm tracking Tony w/ the my athlete app and it's not showing me anything... Correct. The cassette is the gear cluster on the back of the bike. If the gearing is different, such as he's a better rider than you, he may have gearing selected that will provide him more speed at the same effort. For instance: The cassette on my TT bike is a 12/25, meaning the smallest cog (gear) has 12 teeth and the largest has cog has 25. If memory serves me correctly Tony is riding a 11/27 in Wisconsin right now. What this does is provides one fewer teeth on the high gearing end (11) that would cause you to have to use A LOT more power to turn on a flat than would a 12. The same occurs for a 25 versus a 27. The 11 would be beneficial for descents to gain more speed with little chance of spinning out.................... ........................And never mind since we just hung up the phone |
