skrtrnr - 2009-10-19 3:04 PM got my fuel plan all worked out for tomorrows run.

and my where im gonna stash my stuff on the route plan.

is it odd to say that im really, really looking forward to a 12 mile run??

feels sorta odd.

but i am.

stacieb

Not to any of us here.  I suppose a lot of things us triathletes say would be considered odd by the general population.

serendipity - 2009-10-19 3:25 PM Hi team!

Just a drive-by to say:

After crawling around under the house, installing heat tape and wrapping the pipes in insulation, we should be able to have water for a few more weeks.  Too early for temps in the 20s.  Now just keeping our fingers crossed that we close on the new house when we're supposed to.

I'm making coconut shrimp with pineapple salsa for dinner.

Get out there and run!  (I am going out to do yesterday's run tonight, since I never got to it yesterday during the water crisis.)

Go team!

Glad you got the water crisis under control.  Enjoy the make up run tonight.  And that shrimp.  Yummmmmm!

iowagander - 2009-10-19 4:21 PM Good afternoon Ghoulies. I had a very busy weekend dealing with house issues and honey-do lists, but I was able to sneak in 3 out of my planned 10 miles. Grr. As pennance I went out for a speedy 3.75 miles today and I've got my 5k coming up on Wednesday.

I hope everyone had a nice weekend and that your Mondays aren't sucking too bad. Also, welcome back to the boards Jules - we missed you! Later everyone!

At least you got out for a run today.  And speedy too!

disturbed275 - 2009-10-14 7:53 PM Not the best but here's a bike pic.  Mid-flying dismount at my last tri:

great picture! I know I would be nervous if you were in my age group! id be shakin in my boots spd's! so what tri was this taken at?

It was at a small local tri in Waterloo, IA 3 weeks ago.  Only a little over 100 people showed up.  It's a well run race so I hope it grows.  Next year they are adding a sprint distance (this was an oly) so that might help the growth.

adding a sprint should bring a lot more athletes..and spectators which also makeit more doable! looks like a nice venue! pool or OWS? whats the bike and run course like?

OWS, and the bike and run courses are very flat and fast.  I had one of my fastest bike splits of the year, coming close to 23 mph, a speed I usually only flirt with in sprints.  The run is great because 2/3s of it is on very shaded park trails.

So that 3:00 meeting today only lasted 10 minutes!  I was still able to get out on the bike and put in 40 miles before the sun went down.  First ride in 3 weeks and it felt great!

As the long runs get longer, the "ice bath" approacheth.  You may have the perfect set up for long run recovery!  Anyone else use ice baths?  I did last spring for a half mary, starting at 9 miles.  While they weren't pleasant, I think they helped.

I only tried an ice bath once last spring, after my 12 mile pre-half mary training run. It didn't really seem to make a big difference, but then I don't think I stayed in it long enough, either.

I am afraid I might have contributed to our team dropping down to last place. I don't think I added last week's sole little run to the spreadsheet. But I promise to make up for it this week.

I am out of here - going to go home and stretch a lot and see what happens!

Chat with you guys/gals tomorrow.

Jules - I sent a PM about an Ultra Cycling event in your area in case you and your hubby would be interested.  I am but it is a long drive!

but flights are short! and sure I can find a bike for ya! you know how I like to find bikes and all!

I did get the link and it will be right up my dh's alley...I will be travelling then so he will love to go! thanks Bill

feel better! stretch well...and may you not be bowled over by all the healing thoughts I am sending your way!

hope I didnt knock you off our feet! and cause more injuries to you!!!!!!

If you are looking for bikes and  you see something maybe 49 -51...
I check Craigslist frequently around here, but since I live in BFE there is never anything good.

and...

GOOD MORNING GHOULIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got 2 miles of intervals in last night. Tonight will be 3.5 miles in the cold and rain, I'm looking forward to it.

where do you live???? i have an amazing small framed KUOTA bike now....it cost $3000 in 2007 and was upgraded to be approx 3500. We are selling it tomorrow in a yard sale for only $1500....it is carbon fiber bike and design profile aerobars...the only thing you would need is a pair of pedals! the guy who rode it was very small! it is a small frame!

I'm in PA and crying because you and the bike are in CA

sooo whats keeping you??? just a few long days drive away! or hop skip and a jump (hop on a plane, skip the rental and jump in and find a great deal on bikes here! REALLY GOOD DEALS TO BE HAD here on SOME AMAZING BIKES (tri, cross, road and mtn)! There are a lot of people that have WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAy tooooooo much money around here and people and buy bikes like we do shoes...and some are hardly ever ridden!! SUX for them that they never found the fun in biking...but VERY good for me who I think Queen wrote the song...I WANT TO RIDE MY BICYCLE for and about! I not only want to but I LOVE TO RIDE MY BICYCLE..I LOVE TO RIDE MY BIKE!!!

if you truly are looking for a new bike let me know. I do come across a good amount of used bikes and would love to find an excuse to meet in person!

If my sister still lived in Marina, CA I'd have to visit her then stop by to check out the bike. I really am looking for a new (used) bike right now. I'm in no hurry, I'd just like to have something before April or May. If I can find a reason to get to CA I will. Maybe I can get work to send me to San Joaquin or San Diego, then I'll just have to detour your way. Let me see what I can do about that.

Morning Team.  Well I am officially a cheerleader for you guys through the end of the month.

Someone got my diagnosis right in here and I was truly shocked when the Chiro told me the problem:

ITB but it has not hit my knee - just effecting my upper leg.

No running until almost Thanksgiving - He said I could do the turkey trot most likely but I don't start Marathon training until Mid-December so I am good with that.

Sorry to hear that, but at least you know what the problem is now so you can fix it.

MORNING GHOULIES.

minor adjustment to the plan this morning, well.  more like.  a minor adjustment to the route i was planning to run.

my oldest son is home sick.  that makes 3/5 now.  dh and i still 'standing'....

high temp.  cough.  same symptoms.

im gonna get out for my 12 miler today, but im gonna do an out and back that way ill stick closer to home.  my guess is that he'll either sleep all day and/or play his DS, read, watch movies all day.

guess it explains the PISSY mood yesturday.  feel bad now, that i was so short with him.  :{

my youngest said NINE kids were out sick yesturday, just in his class.

manohman it IS a pandemic!

i had my share of sick already, so im hoping for a 'get a jail free' card on this particular strain.

my husband is SURE to get it, and he's a BIG BABY when he's sick.  WAY worse than the kids....not that i want him to get sick, but OI ME this is ONE CONTAGIOUS STRAIN OF YUCK!

well.  i need to eat my egg whites, and then im off to stash my stuff while my food digests.

im kind of bummed, i cut out the part of my where i get to run through the woods/on the trail...but this way makes so much more sense. ill feel 'better' being closer to home.

besides.  when i get back and i post my run to the spreadsheet i get to watch my percentage go WAY up there.  WEEE.  its the little things....

HAPPY RUNNING
