Keith can we place bets on you? Sounds like a sure thing, you will just have to beat the younger and older racers and go for #1 overall.

Hey Team.

Caleb and Coach - good luck this weekend. Coach, do you know what the injury is yet?

My first race is scheduled for mid June so I still have some time to figure out that first part - you know - swimming - LOL. I guess that is why I am going to the pool tonight - still climbing that learning curve. I will tell you though, the last few times at the pool I have seen some improvement so it is exciting to go back. I am probably going to take some more video tonight - so look out YOUTUBE - here I come again Smile.

Have a great night everyone.

I have no idea how I made it through college, I was in class today for 5 hours and wanted to poke my eyes out. Tomorrow I have it from 8- 5:30  I have no idea how I will make it.  enough venting  on a good note I was able to do my 1st run in a week with just alittle pain so thats a good thing.

Kc my buddy who is an orthopod seems to think its either just imflamed or worst case torn meniscus (sp).  If it keeps improving I will not do the MRI thursday as I hate wasting 3k for something that is not needed.  The good thing is that I shouldn't be able to any more damage to it so I guess if I race i'll just have to HTFU.  lol

So does anyone have any real triathlon race questions? Is everyone on track for your A race this year?

Tim, how is your liquid/diet coming?

It looks like we will be on this forum for a while as the new mentor groups are not filling up very quickly, must not be too many who want to be in a group this year.

Actually I do.......... does anybody want to do my HIM 'bike' portion? lolWink

ETA - Dave 3k? as in 3 THOUSAND dollars for a MRI?  Surprised  Suddenly I feel all queasy. Isn't that covered by health insurance?

I would love to do the bike (scott would be your faster bet though) as long as you run for me!!  I have a half in 1 month and had a whopping 2 mile run today... lol

Yea the MRI is covered but we carry very large deductibles so its out of pocket until we hit that.  Plus it's my little pet peave as it seams like some places order them for every little bump and I see what it does to rates.

Hey Team.

Coach - I am in will jump in there right now. However, I do have a real question - at least I think it is one. At what distance for running would you consider starting to use a fuel belt, if at all? Sorry, not that good a question but I feel like when I am out running I would like the occasional sip of liquid.

See all of you in the next forum.

KC- a running coach I worked with said he liked to try to go for an hour on a run without hydrating.  Obviously, it the becomes  a question of what an hour means for you.  I've followed that rule and it has worked out pretty well for me.

This would also depend upon how well you hydrate in general.  It's entirely possible that you might have a run that will only last about 45 minutes that you might want to bring something on simply because you may not have stayed on top of your water intake.  My 8K on Sunday is a perfect example.  About 10 minutes in, I knew I hadn't hydrated enough.  If it were a 10K or something longer, I would have stopped at the aid stations for water.  As it was so hot (on relative terms), I did grab a cup of water and douse myself with it but decided to wait to drink something until the end.

And that's when the gods of beer and running smiled down upon me.  I was putting my compression sleeves on after picking up my stuff from gear check and lo! I found an errant beer ticket laying on the ground!  Such fortune!

I've stuck to the same rule about running and drinking also.  Under 1 hour I don't bother.  Even at a half marathon I'll just stop at the water stations to take a drink.  10k or less I usually don't stop.  Did 6 miles on the treadmill today in 45:28.  I wish I could swim like I can run.

Here's my question:  Since this is my first year doing triathlons, is it 'prudent' to try for an olympic distance tri in July.  My first tri will be in June (sprint).  The reason I want to do an olympic is because I like the bike an run distance, but I'm apprehensive abouyt the swim.  Should I just stick with sprints this year and wait until next season to assess (I don't think i spelled it right)?  Or should I just go for it?

Done I think.  is there a point in both?   I am so glad the group is sticking together.  Changing early in the year never made sense to me.
