#22, half way to the immediate goal of 44 (last day of June & first race for the year). Technically the streak ended last weekend when I woke up in the middle of a heat wave with a hangover from the craft brew fest the night before, but who's counting?

Oh crap, you're all counting...

#273....2.3 rest day miles.

Brad - that sucks....sorry to hear it.

Kittens - a hangover ended your streak?  Shameful.  Yell  Truthfully, there is nothing better for a hangover than a run....except maybe an IV drip and oxygen.....don't ask me how I know that.

Day 565 yesterday and I had 26.47 miles on my watch. Managed to run it in 3:24:55 which was good for 29th overall out of 402 finisher, 26th male out of 261 men and 4th out of 21 men in the 50-54 age group. It was a very hilly course, almost 1900 foot elevatn gain but the weather was not bad. It is a new pr and should ensure I get into Boston next year, it is just a little better than 5 minutes faster then the qualifying time I need. I'll run today after I get home.

Brad I am so sorry about your injury and I hope you healed soon.

Yay!  Great race!  You had a goal of 3:25, right?  Way to dial it in and nail it.  How do your legs feel today?

The streak came to an end today at my triathlon. I came out of the water as about the 3rd person in the 40+ wave, had the wetsuit strippers help me get out of my suit, and then when I was running to the transition area, felt like I got kicked in the back of the left leg. Sure enough, I couldn't put any weight on my left leg after that. Had to drop out of the race, went to a med center, where they determined I tore my calf muscle. The race doctor thought it might have been the Achilles, so I guess I was lucky there.

Seeing a sports doctor this week for a better diagnosis. I'm hoping that I'll be rejoining the streak later this summer.

I'll keep tabs in you guys!

Hope you are back at it soon.

Run #266. Still managing to keep up 50 miles per week. Now if I could just figure how to get some time on the bike.

Thanks, bud. Congrats on your PR, especially with the hilly course!

I'm going to keep posting in here, and hopefully I'll be starting a new streak in 6-8 weeks. I might actually start a swimming streak as soon as the doc will sanction me to do so!

#23, and barely.

This is kind of rhetorical, but for those of you with 100+ days in your streak - how the heck do you manage around stuff just coming up for so long? I'm sure habit and lots of planning is key, but sometimes you just have one of those days.

During the week I've been tackling my runs in the morning before the rest of the family wakes up. Just in case I'm not feeling it, I can always run during my lunch break as a fall back. That was today, except lunch was already spoken for by an overdue bike session. No problem, my wife was out of town for work, so I figured I'd swing by the Y after work and use the treadmill: backup plan #2. But then as I'm leaving work my wife calls and suggests I drive down to meet her for dinner (1 hr away). Can't turn that down, so off I go. Let's just say it was a good thing her hotel had a fitness center that was open 24 hrs, and that I was already feeling chided by LeftBrain for breaking my streak last week over a few too many beers.

#274....2 miles sandwiched between 25 mile bike and 2300M swim.

14kittens - I always have a backpack with my run gear, it's ALWAYS with me.  I'll run while my kids swim, or play ball, or whatever they have going on.  Or I'll go meet my oldest for lunch and we'll run.....or I'll just stop on the way home and run....or whatever.  I try to plan the next day's run, and I usually keep to it, but in case that falls apart I just change, take 20 or 30 minutes, and get it done.  It's more complicated now that my IM build has started because my time is REALLY crunched....but all it means is that some nights I'm still at it as late as 11pm.  As for the wife deal.....mine knows better than to call me and ask me to meet her for dinner while this is going on (IM training).....it's just not happening.

Hope you guys don't mind me posting my "substitute" streak until I can run again...#2 of swimming. Only got 750y in today since the Y pool had a water aerobics class scheduled.

Usually get out for my run before 5am, so stuff doesn't get into the way that early. Have to take the dog out in the morning and evening, so I can always make one of them a run. If I have to, I just get up early.

Thanks, I was shooting for a 3:20-3:25 so I was in the window. My legs felt pretty good yesterday, I would run 10 miles but with all the after marathon beer (lots of beer) and food, I needed a toilet in the worst way so I cut my run short.

Jeez, navbtcret, I'm glad to hear that you imbibed and had some post marathon celebration! I was beginning to think you were just a mile logging machine;)  Good for you.

#3, 2.8 off the bike (need to do more of that)

If I know I have something going on in the evening, I will get up as early as 1 am to run before depending on the miles I am running that day. I work a swing shift my runs are morning noon and night depending on the shift I am on that week. Now I would so mad at myself to let the streak end because I did some poor planning, so I make time to get a mile or two to keep the streak alive no matter what.

A few times I have run into issues, but I always have my running gear in my bag. It also helps that I have an almost non-existent social life. Not much comes up for me, pretty much a "groundhog's day" situation going on here. I run either in the morning or the evening depending on if I have one or two workouts planned, I try to do the run first to get it out of the way. I try not to ever have the attitude "I'll just do it later," because things do occasionally come up. I can tell you that my loop in my cul-de-sac is 0.17 miles, and I will run in circles if I have to. So to sum up:

1) Keep running gear on you
2) Have no friends
3) Do things earlier whenever possible
4) You don't need a lot of space to run, and can usually find a spot pretty easy (a shower on the other hand, you'll just have to be creative)

#233

Recovery day. 20 minutes easy. (Still had to work a 12 hour shift on my feet so not sure on the recovery). Got about 4 weeks left of peak IM training before taper. Have to grind out a 6 hour workout tomorrow. 5hr bike/1 hr run brick. Going to try to get a good nights sleep.

Looking like I'll be starting a new streak in mid/late July. Swimming streak ended at 2 today. Much harder to get out for a swim when doing some work travel than to fit in a run.

Keep at it!
