Well I didn't get much cleaning done, but I got a lot of drinking and posting in

And some TOPPAGE!!!!! (Beth )

Drinking is good - what did you have?

3/4 of a bottle of Syrah. I was going to rest the liver tonight, but after working 10 hours and getting home so late, I figured what the he!!.

Is that a type of wine?

In my recollection, it's a lovely, wonderful, slightly sweet white wine.

YUM! I need to get my hands on some of that. Currently I am partial to a nice glass of rose wine. But I don't drink very often because as I get older, the less it takes to get me drunk. Currently after 2 glasses I'm gone!

TOPPAGE!!!

Yep, it's actually the same thing as Shiraz, quite popular in your part of the world! But the California ones are called Syrah. Same grape. It's red, quite tasty.

Hey phil,

How much time on average (during peak training days/weeks) would you say you put into each sport to get ready for IM Moo?

Each sport?  Dunno.  I have only completed one IM and didn't formulize or use a plan - I winged a lot of training.  I know that my peak was a 20 hour week about 4 weeks or so out, then ya taper.

It depends, too, on what needs improving.  Mine would be the swim, so I will focus a little more this year on that.  Most of the time will be biking - peak time will be based off how long it takes to complete the century ride.

I love the physical training, but there is more than that - there's a BALANCE of everything else, like sleep, social time, nutrition.

My hat goes off to anyone that can manage their life in such a way to fit in IM training. 20 hours a week, holy crap!!!

Yes well those of us lacking in lives choose to do Ironmans (speaking only for myself, of course). I'm looking forward to the distraction.

PT Freaks notes – Chapter 5

Rudy got the party started with some awesome pics from his album – I *heart* the tri pics!!!  Thanks Rudy!  Kristin jumped right in with a pic from her most recent race and a pic from IMMOO (if you look closely, you’ll see that there are actually 3 BT’rs in the pic ).  Then sadly the pics ended - we need pics!

A ha! I knew there was a good reason I was making myself wade through all the posts! I haven't got to the PHOTOS yet!

That movie was a lot different to what I expected it to be like!

Kristen are you still here??? My ankles are swelling up again so Im getting compression...

Just trying to decide whether socks would be better than the calf thingys and how on earth do you work out size... Help???

Theres a chart on the back of the pack. On Skins anyway. And if you're borderline, its better to go down a size.

If they workout then I will get a pair of tights too...

Yay! Let me know how they go. I'm interested in giving the 2XU stuff a go.

Ironman Wisconsin, Sept 09, same as Philthy. That's how we met, we were all jockstrapping so we could sign up in person. We worked a volunteer shift together and the rest is history

I shared a lane with two different pace booties.

I always get the pleasure of sharing with some guy who could rival King Kong when it comes to body hair. FOR GODS SAKE GUYS, SHAVE THAT SH*T OFF!!!! It makes me long to go to a triathlon and look at all those smooth shaven bodies.

I usually get awkward breast strokers jump in the lane with me just as Im getting into my rhythm...

Or freestylers who just shouldnt... and both kinds 90% of the time will hit the wall right infront of me and push off to go again... meaning I spend lap after lap in frustration...

The only positive is that swimming late last night the pool was REALLY quiet... the outdoor pool had only 2-3 people per lane in some lanes and only 1 person in a couple of lanes so it was just so much more pleasant.

Thats why I swim in a squad! People in my lane are all about the same speed and there's a coach telling you what to do so you don't get bored. Plus everyone is doing the same thing so you don't bump into each other, do different stokes etc etc etc

So jealous! I would love to, except in my area there's only one master's swim team to go by (even though they have workouts all day at several different pools) and the absolute minimum fee (limits you to one workout time, one pool) is $89 U.S. per month.

Probably makes sense.. I love swimming solo - I just hate the people that get in my way

Whoops! Got it wrong. Maybe 'cause every time I drank Syrah, I was really snockered. (Is that a word also in Oz?)

I keep wanting to buy 2XU stuff too, (oh it rhymes!) but I confess I already have scads of tri gear.

I just love buying tri gear. I'm like a walking billboard for 2XU, only in a drunken crappy triathlete sort of way. I'm always happy to share my product experiences!
