I have a feeling I'll be baking up a storm this winter Oh, Lord. I might have to have YET ANOTHER Pop-Tart. I am addicted to those things. At least I didn't have one for dinner, unlike many of the previous days. (It's my blog title ... Man Shall Not Live By Pop Tarts Alone ...) God I love Pop Tarts. What flavor? Back in Michigan they have this chocolate vanilla creme one, a chocolate crust, vanilla inside, vanilla frosting with little chocolate sprinkles. The. Best. Ever. I can't get them in NY though My favorite used to be Frosted Blueberry. Now it's Frosted Cherry. I have also recently discovered Brown Sugar and Cinnamon ... MMMMMMMMMMMM! My deepest sympathy to those who are not able to access Pop Tarts or their favorite ones. Mmmm. Love the Brown Sugar and Cinnamon. x2 thats my fav. |

Master 1529 | Subject: RE: PT Freaks Team Thread - Nov USMC Challenge lastcall2003 - 2008-11-06 5:12 PM PT Freaks notes – Chapter 5
Although as Cat says – At this point I should warn you that a pic does not shut them up it just sets a precedent for more pics... Mel (Chartierm22) – while she has been known to sew, knit, bake and needle point, most recently has been making stencils of college football logos to paint on cornhole boards – she says cornhole is a fun back yard/tailgate game – sorta like a cross between bean bag toss and horse shoes (sounds fun, but the name makes me giggle!) Chris (Chrisrunzs26)- is another fan of the ‘Last Unicorn’! She’s out somewhere working or swimming or riding – I hope she’s not swimming and riding at the same time – LOL! Stacie (Dimplespoo)- checked in from Anchorage Alaska where she will be until the 19th. She won’t have much time for posting due to a hectic work schedule while she is there. I’m guessing it’s pretty darn cold up there, so send her some hugs! Magda (Eurydice79) – is making her way through the thread, she is determined to read every single post–what a trooper! She shared her secret to no hangover drink lots of water before bed and take a Berocca (fizzy Vit B supplement I'm sure you have the equivalent in the US ...) . She’s working posting techniques to get TOPPAGE and BOTTOMPAGE, Now that she’s achieved them both several times without having to edit, she’s ok with edited TOPPAGE and/or BOTTOMPAGE Phil (1stTimeTri)- hid his disappointment well after he realized that when Cat says tata, she’s saying goodbye, not striking up a conversation about topics that might involve TOPPAGE, or Melons . Phil is not a big fat party pooper or a skinny one either, he hasn’t been posting in the evenings so he can spend some time with the fam – . Jenn (Jenni4) – stopped by to let the team know that she got her day started with some T.I.T.S. (ok, she said time on the bike, but that’s not as fun to type as T.I.T.S. ) btw, what’s kettlebell? Cat (kaqphin) –we learned something new about Cat Vodka is the ONLY form of alcohol where I’m not a glass and a half girl... – but word to the wise, keep her away from dark spirits . She’s thinking of cutting my USA trip down to just a few places and make people come to me... then I could potentially do the trip in a shorter (and cheaper) space of time.... – be prepared for lots of visitors!Beth (lastcall2003)- had to werk a lot and didn’t get to post much, her new movie was a great hit with Mel’s 2 daughters! Kristin (LazyMarathoner) – even Kristin has her limits when it comes to her blackberry Now come on, I'm not always on the blackberry. It's just nice to be able to browse the web, send drunken texts and such I won't sit and post while I'm having drinks with someone I've just met. Sheesh. hehe!I'll wait until she goes to the bathroom... Kendra (Pipscweek) – still flying low and getting ‘er done! (or maybe she’s still recovering from Halloween? Rudy (Rudedog55) – had a couple of Sam Adams after the gym last night, and then after stating that he needs more TOPPAGE, posted his way to BOTTOMPAGE followed directly by TOPPAGE! He has the quote of the day. He got into the NYC tri!!! Andy (RevBigDog)- if you heard a loud crash from the west, that was Rudy jumping on his rollers – heh, that sounds funny! He survived the session, but concluded that he needs to do it while his kids are asleep they are way to curious about the moving parts – now THAT sounds funny!Ted (TeddieMao)- did a fine job in the pie eating contest, he came in second (very respectable ). Lessons learned from the contest, don’t watch the other pie eaters, it’s a distraction and opens the window for the big guy from the Mail Room to sneak past you for first place. ( I hope he’s feeling ok today – egads!) Travis (tlnewman)- is clearly enjoying being off duty since he cracked open a coldy at 4:12, not 4, not 4:30, not 4:15, but 4:12 – LOL! Yanti (Triaya)- ahhhh, no late night visits from Yanti, but I’m sure she wouldn’t mind my giving everyone a big {{{{{{{MELON PRESS}}}}}} on her behalf . David (Wraith28k)- how does one summon the joker? Shall we tell him batman is here? Lol! Rudy sums it up best just so you all know, i think this team is awesome and i lof the way you all interact with each other and us, it makes for a fun challenge. Thank you all!!! Thanks Beth, and again you are awesome we're not worthy!!! : |

Each sport? Dunno. I have only completed one IM and didn't formulize or use a plan - I winged a lot of training. I know that my peak was a 20 hour week about 4 weeks or so out, then ya taper. It depends, too, on what needs improving. Mine would be the swim, so I will focus a little more this year on that. Most of the time will be biking - peak time will be based off how long it takes to complete the century ride. I love the physical training, but there is more than that - there's a BALANCE of everything else, like sleep, social time, nutrition.
My hat goes off to anyone that can manage their life in such a way to fit in IM training. 20 hours a week, holy crap!!! One thing to mention - the SUPPORT of MY FAMILY. They allow me to do this. If they didn't, there would be 2 choices - 1). Divorced or 2). Not doing triathlons. |

Granted, my big gut gets in the way, and the fit needs some slight tweaking, and i am not super flexible, but my lines are good, it's just not comfy like my roadie. Is this normal?? I hope it is cause i am fast as hell on the Tri bike compared to my roadie and i don't tire nearly as quick, it is just hard to stay in aero for miles on end, with all the hills on my routes.
I have a road bike with clip on aeros. Its fine to ride. Saying that, my neck does hurt after a while. I mainly ride aero on flat roads without much traffic. On hills or busy roads I ride in the normal position because I feel safer. My triceps get a bit achey after a while.
Different geometries with a roadie versus a "tri-bike", thus some discomfort. I stay aero over 95% of the time, even while riding up the hills on the IM Moo bike course, and those are not fun. |

I have no life Plus there's the added bonus of the Ironman hotties! I worked T2 womens change tent and I would have given anything to be in that men's tent! We all drooled as we watched them run by. People in my lane are all about the same speed and there's a coach telling you what to do so you don't get bored. Plus everyone is doing the same thing so you don't bump into each other, do different stokes etc etc etc So jealous! I would love to, except in my area there's only one master's swim team to go by (even though they have workouts all day at several different pools) and the absolute minimum fee (limits you to one workout time, one pool) is $89 U.S. per month. That's not cheap. |
