Did I forgot to shower this morning? We apparently forgot to coordinate today's meetings so that we are all out at the same time. I for one thought it was the shower - LOL Kim is east of me, she's upwind. LOL - good catch - and hopefully you stay that way today so I get to ride a tail wind home I don't know how to burst your bubble by tail winds are a myth, a fantasy, they don't really exist. I'm sorry I had to be the one to tell you that Bill. There are head winds, cross winds, and no winds, that's it and that's all. Not on my bike Today I rode all 8 directions (you know the middle ones as well) and I was luving life going the right direction - make a turn and slow right down. Good training for Iowa. Today is supposed to switch to a North West Wind which is ideal - tail the whole way home! Let it rain - just give me a tailwind! If you have a tail wind the whole way home double WOOHOO!!! |

I vote YES. BTW, my bike is black and red. I love that color combination. And the clip on aero bars I ordered just arrived. I'm a bit initimidated by the thought of them but am going to give it a try. If I hate them, off they go. Need to have the lbs put them on and schedule a fitting. Where did you find them Kim? I got the Profile Design Carbon Jammer GT from TriSports. I didn't shop around much for price, but didn't see any bargains and these kept getting recommended. I am somewhat apprehensive about being that far away from my gears and brakes, so we'll see. I have some really flat sprints this year and would like to try and really hammer the bike. While I suck pretty badly in all three disciplines, the bike (and transitions) is the only place I have a chance at gaining any meaningful speed. So you aren't going with bullhorns then? You can have gears or brakes added to the end of the aerobars if you want - that should not be too expensive. I bought bullhorns and brakes from someone on here for $35 maybe including shipping and I put them on my commuter bike - I look hip - just ask me I do not even know what bullhorns are...so I'll go with you on looking hip. The other part of my hesitation on the aero's is my bike fit. It was a total compromise. No one makes a WSD bike bigger than a 56cm. I'm 5'10 with a 36" inseam. Every brand wsd I rode I had to jack the seat so far up I was practically coming down vertically on the handlebars. A bit of an exageration, but not much. I have a mens 58cm Specialized Roubaix Comp. I've shortened the stem and changed out the handlebars to a narrower set to fit my shoulder width, but I still feel a little stretched out over the top tube. I'm afraid the aero's are going to exacerbate the issue. But I am going to try and see if I like it. If not, then one more year on the roadie and then maybe a tri-bike. Oh and please 'splain the bullhorns or I'll have to go out and google those. |

On Saturday's ride I had head winds the entire circuitous route. I also passed some very cute baby lambs. One was black. And a farm selling fresh eggs. I would have bought some but thought riding with eggs jammed down my jersey was asking for trouble. |

Oh and please 'splain the bullhorns or I'll have to go out and google those. Bullhorns are what you find on a typical tri bike instead of drops - they are like aero but are wider and the aero's sit inside of them. I would think you will be able to adapt a brake onto the aero. To me that is the key - shifting you will know when it is coming up or you can just move your arm - braking that is key! I got it. Didn't know they were called bullhorns, but makes sense. That's what they look like. Thanks for the suggestion on the brakes. That really is the main thing. I need to be able to stop when I need to stop. I'll ask at the lbs when I go in for fitting. |

Nice Colnago though! I tried to find a picture of a tri bike with the parts labeled but no joy. |

I was going to go to the Expo in Bethesda, but now I'm just not sure. The closer it gets to Saturday the more I'm thinking when I leave my sister's I'm heading to the bike shop to get her. Pics should be posted Saturday night sometime. |

I sent the pink 'Sweatpea' bike to a friend and that is what she and her mom call each other. They want to know how to get one - I told them to set aside about 5K and you should be good - guess they are not interested! I thought love knew no bounds. Apparently it does. |
