Pretty exciting that Team Garmin-Cervelo is poised for the team GC win in the Tour. Looks like we are doing them proud by really kicking butt in this challenge too!

TOP PAGE!

I'll be heading away for the weekend, but don't worry I will have my bike with me and not even a hurricane will keep me from riding Sunday morning. Have a great weekend everyone, hope to see we are all at 100% when I come back!

Well guys, I have some bad news. I don't think I'll be able to finish my last stage.

I was at work when my upper back seized up. It was bad enough to bring me to my knees. I went to the ER and was told I was having severe muscle spasms and a possible Thoracic Spine Sprain. No idea how that happened, but I need to take it easy for a few days and get a follow up on Monday.

This isn't the news I needed 3 weeks out from my first tri. Guess I'll take it easy and play it day by day. I will say, I WILL compete no matter what. Unless it will cause more damage, I will race.

I've come soo far to not at least try.

Anyway, sorry everyone. Wish I could have finished out the challenge.

Back injuries are not to be messed with. I lost 6 weeks during my half marathon training this year to a back injury. 97.62% of your goal is good enough. Rest that back.

I got in another stage but I am short just under 2 miles thanks to storms. I'll get that done tomorrow.

Today's standings:
1. Huntingtri 100% waiting for the rest of the team to head to the hotel
2. Breezy 99.68 forgetting how many laps to do in paris before crossing the finish line
3. doctorbob 98.7 pacing the peleton
4. chrisrunsz 97.83 waiting to start the sprint
5. cagolddigger 97.62 talking to the race doctor
6. peto_primo 96.23 in chris's slipstream
7. dlaxman 88.6 avoiding the cobblestones
8. triguy 0 watching the race on tv

Pulled into Paris a day early.  Was going to do 42.5k to match the TT today, but went 41.7 miles instead ( a lot slower than the team over in France)

Mimosas tomorrow????

May try and get a ride in tomorrow anyway to log some more outside miles.  I never intended to have to use the trainer in the challenge this year Cry

Time to start running and swimming again I think I am going to Tri in 6 weeks and haven't done any swimming to speak of in nearly 4 years.

See you on the Champs' tomorrow everybody.

Looking back at the tour, this is how some numbers stacked up for me going into tomorrows ceremonial stage

In the TDF I have done 21 stages with 49.75 miles of Commuter, 63.75 on the trainer, and 278.54 on the road.
Started the tour off at 21.5% Body Fat and saw 19.5 this morning.  Did the first ride at 208 (albeit that was up a bit over the week before) and have seen under 200 a couple of times this last week.

Hope others had positive results as a by product of spending more time in the saddle!!

Got in another Extra 30 Minute Stage Today and a 2.5 mile run as the sun went down.  Chris nice job and way to give the extra effort.

CA Gold sorry to hear about your back and don't worry about the little bit you fell short.  You put in a ton of stages, time, and miles and should just feel great about those three and get better.  I do have one question, was this a substantial amount more riding this month than previous months.  I know that my lower back has really bothered me at times and I believe it's because of all the extra riding.  I have two bulging disk in my lower back but this has caused it to flare up.  If you think the challenge may be a factor I know that stretching and a few days off has helped me in the past and hopefully the same happens for you.  I hope it is nothing serious and that you are 100 percent for your Tri, I am going to say that you will feel great on that day.

I don't really contribute all the riding for my back problems.

About 10 years ago I  broke my back in a car accident. Not my fault, just sitting at a stop light waiting, when I was rear-ended by a semi truck. I spent a few years rehabbing and sitting around feeling sorry for myself. Went through all the ups and downs of doctors and pain pills. This last year I just got tired of it all and told myself I was going to start living my life and follow my dream of some day competing in an Ironman.

I lost 30+ lbs. been getting in great shape and I've had minimal pain (doc's say I'll always be in pain). I've been working long hours at work and training and I may have pushed a little to much on both accounts. This will be just a minor set back. I have an appointment with my sports med doctor Monday and will go from there.

I appreciate the concern from everyone, but I will be back up and running in no time.

That is incredible, I don't ever want something like that to happen to me, but if it does I hope I have the strength and will that you did to get up and at it again.  Stories like yours also help me to not complain about my minor back issues because it could always be worse.

I was wondering if yall' know of a running Challenge for next month getting ready to start. I need a running one like this biking one to get my rear moving. I love my bike so it is not hard to bike but I am not a great or fast runner and I have to get it done, heat or no heat.

Going to get my laps around Paris in just a bit. Thanks to you all for being such great team mates

Cagoldigger: I hope your back recovers quickly and you did just great in the Challenge.
