Elite Veteran 781 | Subject: RE: Team Endless Summer--July Challenge Kinda quiet at team Endless Summer; guess we are all training! I submitted our training times to Renee so we'll just have to see how it shakes out. Personally, I'm ahead on the bike (due to my spur of the moment Tour de Paris [TX] ride), even on the running and behind on the swimming. But no sweat, I WILL meet my swim goal this month. This is a huge week for our team. In no particular order, MandiGayle comes back from Africa, Tania embarks on her RAGBRAI adventure, and CindyK does a HIM. Your first, CindyK? I'm so, so, so excited for all of you. Ooops, forgot to add that hoff probably blew the socks off of his race tonight. Hoff? He's fast. Mnewton is probably still recovering (and let us know how you're doing), and soopergirl has her feet up (hopefully) while congratulating herself on her race yesterday in very bothersome conditions. Vapor trail is mostly healed and is ready to go while emtri is so busy training that we don't hear much from him, but we hope he is hanging in there. And last, but not least, Kepola is quick with the encouragement following her first tri this month. What a great team. |

Lake Mary Florida | Subject: RE: Team Endless Summer--July Challenge Well I am doing fine on the swim mileage but I just don't seem to be getting out of bed to go first thing in the morning. So what is that signature line I am going to have to put again? Ugh! I have to get on my bike this week too. I am going to go at leat 3 times this week! (I am working on the "if you write it down it will happen" theory! |

Master 1315 Shreveport, LA | Subject: RE: Team Endless Summer--July Challenge I am back at work today. I am going to try to swim or bike on Thursday. I plan on putting in some serious Bike time in the next 1.5 weeks. My run is at 80% and swim at 60%, so I should be able to meet both of those w/o much of a problem. Thanks for the encouragement everyone. Keep up the good training. |

Veteran 221 | Subject: RE: Team Endless Summer--July Challenge Alright race report is up. So about the mini challege....is it for the whole month. I was under the imperssion that it was two weeks. I go in a few thousand yards this morning. So that is 4 morning swims so far. Hopefully tomorrow will be 5 then who knows how many more when I get back. |

That means that I failed to meet my challenge and only scored 3 out 4 intended early am swims. What's my punishment? How did everyone else do? Does anyone want to continue the challenge for the rest of the month? |

Elite Veteran 1817 Cedar Rapids, Iowa | Subject: RE: Team Endless Summer--July Challenge Actually, (to paraphrase one of my favorite movie lines of all time) " What we have here is a failure to communicate". If you go back to page 2 or 3, you'll see that I proposed the mini-challenge as the whole month, but then everybody else just put in their schedule for the two weeks. At the time, I didn't catch it. So if everybody wants to extend their goals out for the rest of the month, we can just play this out.....wanna? I have been posting my mini challenge points in my log on swim days. I am currently at 5 of a possible 8. I won't be able to get higher than 7 of 8, because even though I made the yardage up, I still missed an actual day last Friday so I penalized myself because the point of the mini challenge was to GET OUT OF BED EVERY SCHEDULED SWIM DAY. |

Veteran 293 The Emerald City | Subject: RE: Team Endless Summer--July Challenge ohhhhh okay. Thanks to Tania for doing the research on the mini challenge. Well then I guess I goal myself 4 more early am swims until the end of month. Which means that my goal total will be 8 for the month. Does this mean that I get to make up the one that I missed last week? Sorry, bonk me on the head if I "just don't get it". |

Elite Veteran 1817 Cedar Rapids, Iowa | Subject: RE: Team Endless Summer--July Challenge kepola - 2005-07-19 3:25 PM ohhhhh okay. No, it's not that you don't get it, it's that I'm not explaining it right. Here is why I proposed the mini challenge in the first place: I know that we are each of us definitely going to make 100% of our total yardage / minutes of swimming goals for the month for the "big challenge". So that's a given. What I was trying to do was to FORCE myself to get out of bed on every single Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning that my group swims. So the mini challenge is not really about the yards or the minutes, it's about........."You had a swim workout planned for today, did you do it, YES OR NO". It's about the discipline of the thing. If you had a workout planned and you did it, you get one point. If you had a workout planned and you did not do it, you do not get a point. That is why I said that even though I made up the yardage later from the workout I missed, I still do not get the point for the day that I missed. I lacked the discipline to get my ass out of bed, so I do not get my point for the day, simple as that. I really was not trying to make it a hassle - I just needed some additional accountability because it is so very, incredibly hard to get up at 4:15 or 4:30 am to go swim, but if I don't there is no other way for me to get it done, the day is lost. |

Veteran 221 | Subject: RE: Team Endless Summer--July Challenge Alright team we have entered the halfway mark. You know the 3/4 mark of the race is always the toughest part. So lets get out there and tri. This way we can just cruise all the way home to the finish. And I will talk to you guys when I get back from Chicago. I'll post all my mileage when I get home. |

Elite Veteran 781 | Subject: RE: Team Endless Summer--July Challenge Have a great trip, hoff!! By my calculations, you could probably run to Chicago faster than you can fly. But if you want to shirk by sitting down to get there who am I to stop you? I'm also very, very excited for CindyK and Tania (HIM and RAGBRAI, respectively). I CANNOT wait to hear how your events go. Y'all rock!!! Edited by lynda 2005-07-20 8:07 PM |

Elite Veteran 781 | Subject: RE: Team Endless Summer--July Challenge Okay, team, I know I'm an idiot. I can't open xls files on my computer and I now can't find the post that tells how to save and convert it. So, how are we doing? Personally, I'm behind on my swimming, but I have a plan to get there (it involves lots of swimming ) and I swam yesterday and today and will go again tomorrow and one day this weekend. I'll also swim four times next week. I'll get there. Happy training, team!!! |

I can't wait to hear how CindyK's race and Tania's week go. Mandi will likely join us this week, and I'm anxious to hear how sooper's bike went. Mnewton also started back this week. Happy training, y'all. That really is the idea. Wel, that and kicking all kinds of a$$. You know you have it in you. |

Extreme Veteran 319 Dallas, Texas | Subject: I'm back home! Greetings from Liberia! (and Chicago, Belgium, Senegal & Sierra Leone) I'm just checking in to say hello after a long while! Also, I wanted to tell ya'll - you all are doing an awesome job in carrying this team through the challenge. Certainly don't need me! I'll start back training tomorrow (according to plan) because I'm still doing the dance of the time zones today. And in the next couple of days I'll have a chance to get caught up on all of ya'll and the BT goings ons. I'll also check on my totals - how are ya'll reporting those? percentages or units? My trip was absolutely the best experience I've had in my life thus far. After being there, I really think in the next couple of years I'm going to go back to Liberia, or maybe Ghana to work with the orphans and street children for a period of years. My time there was so awesome! We stole away from the children's home for part of one of the weekends, and went to a nearby beach that was absolutely beautiful. I got to get in a short ocean swim, and beach run. It was the best run I've ever had, let me tell you! Well, I'm going to take a nap, so I'll catch up later. I'll be so glad to get back to training with ya'll |

Master 1315 Shreveport, LA | Subject: RE: Team Endless Summer--July Challenge I should be able to finish strong. By Sunday I have to: Swim at least 10 minutes Bike at least 68.25 minutes Run 38.1 minutes It should not be a problem to finish all three and go over all of those. Hope that everyone else is doing well. Go Team Endless Summer!! |

Veteran 221 | Subject: RE: Team Endless Summer--July Challenge Alright finally I can chill out and get down to training again. Goodness knows I am totally broke now so I can't do anything but train. lol. I know I am a little bit behind. But nothing that I can't catch up in the next 5 days. Just going to have to buckle down and get there. This is that I have left. 37 miles to run 162 miles to bike 12400 yards to swim. This one might be tough. Chicago was awesome. but next time I'm going to fly into the area. 14 hours in the car was rough. I am so beat right now. But I feel really good now. Good two week of pretty much just resting. So I'll be able to tough it out then I can taper for a good 4 days before my race. But I'm not looking to taper much. I don't have much of a base to taper from just yet. Welcome back Mandi. |

Elite Veteran 781 | Subject: RE: Team Endless Summer--July Challenge This news bothers me not at all. I know I won't meet my goals until Sunday. Why would I care about where we are today? Just do the very, very best you can. And HAVE FUN!!! Do you see my signature block? Do you realize how much we all have accomplished?! No, really. RAGBRAI, a HIM, trip to Africa, 6 minute miles, adult wisdom teeth extractions, first tris? Regardless of how we place (and I'm sure we'll be just fine--no panic on this front), nobody can take away all that we accomplished this month. Very, very well done, team. |
