lol - our temp badgered us over the past two weeks to actually have a little party this morning for Bastille Day with croissants, french rolls, eclairs and macaroons.  The best part is that none of us are French.

I got her back by plastering her cubicle with Happy Bastille Day signs and French flags that I printed.  I even hid a little TdF symbol that she hasn't found yet.

Sulcus, love the Bastille Day prank and party! C'est trop amusant!

Love the Dog picture, too. Hilarious!

I got in another ride tonight - my tri club did some brutal (for me) intervals where you push it hard for 2.5 miles, spin and wait for others to catch up, and go again. Did four of those. Ouch! Glad I did. I needed something like that to hopefully snap me out of my funk.

(Reminder to self: Don't eat hot dogs, even if they were turkey dogs!, for lunch on the day of intervals when there is a possibility of a food coming back up the wrong way!)

Hi team....

I posted this in my log but here is a heads up:

"Bottom line - I seem to have chosen my time off to melt down...
Im exhausted.... really struggling to force myself to leave the house... and such....
Im going to either pull out of the TDF challenge.. or if no one objects.... drastically reduce my goals....
Then Im going back to a planning, little things, one day at a time strategy until I can pull myself out of the funk and feel more like me.... "

Ride lots!

Cat

Hey Cat, sorry you're feeling so off lately. We definitely don't want you to pull out! Just do what you can... What would the TdF challenge be without SuperCat?!

Fairbanks
Subject: RE: Saxobank
So Fairbanks is currently being overwhelmed with smoke. There's been a forest fire blazing away to the southwest for quite a while, and the last couple of days have been dark and smokey. I found out this morning that another fire has broken out to the southeast, so I'm not sure we'll be getting any relief any time soon. Pretty awful on the lungs, plus it always gives me a headache. I haven't ridden, or done any exercise whatsoever, in the last couple of days, so I'm really hoping to get out after work today.

Anybody have some wind or rain we could borrow?

Aww com'on Shawn, for NY in July it has been pretty cool (70's mostly to low 80's F , 20-27 c) and hardly any humidity. Very rare for a New York Summer.

You're absolutely right but when I wrote that I was bitter that I had to go do a scavenger hunt outside in the heat, all dressed up and carrying my workbag, during an officer retreat yesterday.  I was soaked by the time we were done!

To top it all off, everyone was talking about going back to the office, but who was the only dummy in his department who actually did?  Yep, this guy!

Managed to get a little stage done today.   It is so windy here - 31km/hr.    I am trying my best to learn to make friends with them, but it just doesn't seem to be happening.   Cry

Anybody have any races this weekend?

You call this windy? You should not come to Iceland then We call 31km/h a very slight breeze - almost calm wind

Are you serious?  Embarassed   I thought I've been doing good handling the 20km winds.   Laughing    I really am trying to be like other hard core Bt'ers and HTFU.   (Hope I got that right).

I am serious. The average normal day here is about 30km/h gusting to 40km/h. Thats normal.

We also live right by the ocean and we usually bike ride by the ocean.

I have been having winds up to 60km/h on my long rides and thats what makes it so much harder!!

I somehow went over 100% today on the spreadsheet.  I'm still a little over one hour away from hitting the distance goal, but I'm over the goal for number of stages.  That's because I'm riding more times of shorter distance (one hour) on the trainer since I have the broken toe.  Anyway, I'll have to adjust the goals before long.

And by the way, some of us are proud of our low post counts.  I've been on BT for a few years and am dangerously close to 1000 posts.
