| Veteran 283 Canton, Michigan | Subject: RE: Lora's Just Us Girls Group - CLOSED I swam today at my Masters class. 2400 yds. The coach is getting us ready for the Postal swim on Sat where we will swim 1 hr straight. I have never done one of these before. Have any of you girls swam in a Postal? I'm a little nervous I have never swam an hr straight before.
Good luck and happy training this week everyone. | |

You're a little over halfway towards the IM swim goal - in day one! Never done a Postal. I would just talk about the apprehension with your coach. If you can find a nice, easy pace, you may be surprised by how well you do. But listen to your coach - and to your instincts. |

| Regular 88 Chicago | Subject: RE: Lora's Just Us Girls Group - CLOSED Gals, I went for a run today and it felt great! It was my longest run yet of this year - 33 minutes. I am taking it slow and reminding myself of form. In doing that, I had a lot of energy to notice the beautiful surroundings. When I came back I felt envigorated and very efficiently churned out a bit more work. I reminded myself that when I am injured, it pays to do everything I can do, even if it's small. I am really looking forward to getting more of those runs in. How's the IM going? |

| Veteran 180 Madison | Subject: RE: Lora's Just Us Girls Group - CLOSED I swam last night for the first time since September !!!!  I always dread getting to and in the pool but once I am there I enjoy it.  Plus my coach is awesome. Does anyone use a waterproof ipod? One of the reasons I don't swim more is that I get soooo bored. |

| Expert 701 Caratunk, Maine | Subject: RE: Lora's Just Us Girls Group - CLOSED Hey Girls, Sorry for the hiatus. These past two weeks have been tough getting workouts in between work and, well, play! Heading out the door for a run now. I leave Friday PM for a 5 day winter trip in Baxter State Park with some friends - we are doing what is known as The Grand Traverse skiing from the north end of the park to the south end. Averaging 10-12 miles/day (xc ski) with heavy packs. I will post some pictures, that is for sure. Hey what helps me with boredom in the pool (when I can get there) is to have a plan. So I go planning on a specific workout. A warm-up (say 200 yds consisting of 50 drill, 50 kick board, 50 drill, 50 kick board), then a set of a series of reps (like 6x 100 or 200, or whatever you want). Then I plan on 200 yd cool down basically screwing around doing what I want. Practice flip-turns, back stroke, breast stroke, hanging out watching the really good swimmers, la la. I don't know if my way is advocated by anyone (besides me!) but I really don't like the pool. I am an open water girl. This gets me to do it. Cheers, Mandy |

I just got a regular iPod two weeks ago, so it'll probably be a couple more years before I go waterproof. I hear they're awesome, though... |

I'm doing this, too, but - being sick this week - got very little done. I did get in 800 yards of swimming, putting me around a quarter of the way done with my swim. |
