I had dinner with a friend last night and missed 9 pages already! Nice job on the table, Dee! I'll have to get that into my log later. Just got back home from the pool, now have to get ready for work. (Yuck.) I'll have to catch up on the thread later. Happy April! Go team! On your right | Subject: RE: Super Cats, Under Dogs and Anthropomorphic Super Heroes Ok, now that I've finally managed to get to the end of 10 pages already, I can commence with my intro. I'm Chad, a super new tri person. I have my first race set for August, and live in South Carolina. I'm also a Clyde, coming in around 270 (but down from 297 at the beginning of the year) and my goal is running. I have a 6 month old son, and work only on the weekends, so my workouts are all "gym" ones. I can't really get out biking and running with the baby, so I do lots of spinning classes, and treadmill running. Since I started my tri-life, I have dropped my 5K time by 9 minutes, and am looking to cut it by another 9 to get it to 30 minutes or less by the end of the month. Pretty agressive, but assuming I can get over my cold, I should be able to manage it I hope. |

On your right | Subject: RE: Super Cats, Under Dogs and Anthropomorphic Super Heroes Thanks! I've only been running a short time, (a 4-6 weeks) and my first attempt at the 5K distance was about 49 minutes of walk/run. The next time I tried it I got it down to 43 minutes. And the next time was 39:35. So there is constant improvement, I'm just hoping I kick my cold soon and can really push again. |

Patience and consistency is the key!!

Yeah, I understand about not pushing too hard, but you still have to push hard enough. I started out with my first few months of the year going nice and slowly, hitting the gym frequently, but not with lots of intensity. Now I'm going just as often, but pushing myself a little harder. This is more of a recovery week for me though, unfortunately. At least until I get over my cold. |

I've found that I have some of my best workouts in the first week back after a recovery week. Like today, when I swam 300 yards without stopping for the first time ever. (Notice how I just slipped that little tidbit in there?) Rest up and take care of your cold. But not for too long. We've got a challenge to win, after all. |
