Before doing a 10k leg of a 60+ mi road race around Mt. Desert Island on the 4th with 5 friends, I rode by myself just under 12mi from my campsite to the start of my leg. It was a LOT more hilly than I thought it would be, so I took it at moderate intensity so I didn't kill my legs for the run... and even though it was rainy it was a beautifully scenic ride around the island. I want to go back and ride there and through Acadia - GORGEOUS! Sounds like a nice ride (and fun race). Wish I had some nice scenery around here. Lots and lots of cornfields. Race was VERY fun. That's the only relay I've ever done and it was a blast! Made me actually excited to run again (even though I'm awful at it!) These were the team batons below: (we were the one all the way on the right... I think my teammate Ray took 'er home.)  Best. Batons. Ever. |

I have an ugly swim on tap for tonight, another 3000+. I'm getting so sick of these long boring swims and have many more to go.... Do you at least get out in OW for them? Pool is feeling like being on a drainer or a dreadmill for me, but I don't get bored in OW. I was planning on meeting a training group at 5:45 this morning for a bike-swim-bike, but being that I just got back from camping late last night, I needed to catch up on some time in a real bed and just snooze-buttoned my way to Almost Late For Work. Going to try for an hour spin class at the gym tonight to redeem myself since it's rainy out which I'll ballpark at 14.5mi. Nope, I live in NYC so I have to schlep out to the ocean for OWS and find it is rarely worth it now that I don't need the experience as much so I do OWS when I'm out of town and it's convenient, or I just forego it until races. I'm just happy to have a pool to swim in! |

Good luck with that. I did back to back 3500s in DC this weekend, Ugh. At least one was in an outdoor pool, that was pretty neat. I am stuck with at least 1-2 of these beasts per week now until September. HTFU! |

Hi Kendra! You wanna set some posting goals like the last challenge we were in together? LOL, don't think I can keep up a pace like that.  That was a pretty ridiculous month, but I don't think 8000 seems out of the question for you Are you going gor 6000? If you go for 6K, I'll go for 8K. Now that sounds like a challenge. Against my better judgment I accept You are both insane!!! Makes me feel better about my posting nbers every Julythough.... Okay, did not expect him to take me up on that. |
