tizon - 2010-01-07 7:28 PM GO HORNS!!!!
Good logs!  Sorry about the Horns.  My son was actually wearing a Colt McCoy jersey during the game.  A  big no no since we are total SEC fans.

Chezz - 2010-01-05 2:29 PM I'm back and I'M IN for a weight loss challenge. I want to drop 10 lb before march.
Hey Chezz,
How are you feeling.  Are you still back with us?  I have not seen anything logged for the month.

KiwiJDRPH - 2010-01-02 8:33 PM I'm checking in! HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE!!! Didn't make the Celtic Solstice 5 miler due to our humongous snowstorm of 23 inches over that weekend. I woke up at 6am, looked out my window and knew I'd never make it out of my development to downtown Baltimore. Some of the local diehards made it but I didn't make it out of my house until the next afternoon. Been sporadically running because of the weather. I need to use the treadmill if the conditions on the road are bad but I really hate treadmills because I do interval running and the treadmills at my gym aren't set up for treadmills. I'll have to figure out some speed work or try to lengthen my runs to get more distance in. Stop making excuses and the like! With the new year brought a new cold for me so I've been nursing that but feel like I should be able to make it to the gym tomorrow for a light workout since I've been slacking off over the holidays. Getting excited for a new year and a new racing season!
Hey - how are you feeling?  I have not seen much logged.  Is your cold gone?

Hey Chezz,
How are you feeling.  Are you still back with us?  I have not seen anything logged for the month.

Finally got back on the wagon over the weekend after moving and travelling.  I've kept a food journal and was amazed at how easy you pile fat on your diet.  I am feeling good, although I will keep doing swim drills for the rest of the month while building my running and cycling base back.  I hate core work but did see the beenfits last year prior to my half marathon so will try to incorporate these as well.

The big news:  signed up for my first sprint and got 2 other colleagues from work in it, so it's no longer a hope to finish race, but a must win one!!Laughing  I am psyched!

Great!  It's always fun to have "friendly" competition.  Which sprint did you sign up for?

jsiegs - 2010-01-08 11:37 AM One more post then I'm done. I'm super sore from a run yesterday (though it was a good run), so I'm gonna try a recovery jog today then a swim and a "yogalaties" class. Has anyone does yoga or pilaties or the combo? I figure worst case is that it doesn't do anything and best case is that I'll be a little less sore and more recovered. Thoughts?
Great logs.  How are you feeling after long bike sessions?  Still get the cramping or what have you decided to do?
I haven't done anything long/hard enough to tell and no real brick sessions at that. The bricks I did in training, even when at race effort for the bike, didn't bother me, it was just the races.

Got it.  I wonder if it's a combination of pushing hard, nutrition/hydration and bike fit.  Just keep trying new things and let me know how you feel.

January Races:

I know we have 2 1/2 Marathon races this weekend.  One on the 16th and one on the 17th.  Does anyone else have a January race planned?

nope, none this month.  I will do a short duathlon on Feb 20, on the exact same course as my first tri so this will give me an idea of what I'm getting into

Moving a piano by yourself - Hmmmm - you are right about that not being a good idea.  Glad you are back up and logging.  Things look good!

Awesome.  I love doing things like that (racing on a course twice with different distances).  You get a feel for the course and you can plan your race day with more confidence.

I was starting to feel better Sunday into Monday. But when Tuesday came around I was feeling fatigued and sluggish again. All my other symptoms are mild but the exhausting is killing me. So I haven't worked out at all this week. Running girls both at work and outside of work told me to rest up and not push myself. I left work early yesterday, took a swig of Nyquil (as a pharmacist I'm a lousy supporter of measurements) and slept for 5 hours undisturbed. Took the dog to the vet for his canine influenza (what is going on with the animals?) and came back home and went to bed. Today I'm still feeling exhausted with minimum sinus symptoms and a sore throat. I'm heading to Maine this weekend to visit my mother, I'll get in some speedy walking but that's it. Next week I plan on getting back into the regimen because I don't want to slack off too long. As long as the cough stays mild and I continue the Mucinex I think I should be good. No races planned for January. First one I was looking at was March for the St. Patrick's 5K. But I'll look into February to see if anything is going on!

Gotcha!  Rest up - it's a long season and this is the best time (if there is one) to be sick or injured.Laughing

Hey gang!  Sorry I've been MIA.  I'm getting back into the swing of things.  I am going to run my Half Mary.  I haven't had a long run since my accident but I have run some 4 milers and felt good.  I don't think I am going to break any records but I'm excited to tackle the race.  Wish me luck!  71 days until my HIM!!

Hey All - As we are in the 2nd half of January how is everyone feeling?  How's your training?  Any concerns or issues that you might need help with?  Also, food logs - keeping them?  Are the helping?  Let's get some feedback going.

Improving day by day.  The food journal is helping, I dropped 2 pounds in 1.5 weeks.

Good for you.  That is a REAL healthy drop in weight.  If you average about 2 lbs a week you are more likely to keep it off rather than a crash diet with quick big weight loss in the beginning.
