No reason why you can't try it, but again, there is a lot of evidence that chocolate milk works well

Mmmmm chocolate milk. PLus I am awaiting word on a deal with Ensure.
Did a 1.2 mile swim today. Felt really fast, but was only second fastest yet. 45:59 which puts me at a 1:32:00 Ironman swim time.

on the swim

Ensure - not a bad idea, and to each their own, but I don't see why so many people go to "special" products when regular stuff we have will work. How hard are you working out that you need Ensure when you're done?

Does getting back on the horse after a horrible sinus/chest cold count?  If so, that's what I'm doing.

Have a great week everyone!!

Did 6.09 in fairly chilly weather. Felt pretty sluggish too. But I did have a bunch of wine last night and went to a kiddie concert, Brady Rhymer, this morning.

January training totals:
7 hours on the bike
76.29 miles running
14,150 meters swimming
4 hours stretching
7 pounds lost
Resting heart rate down to 45

Did 4.5 mile run tonight and felt much faster than it actually was, but I felt comfortable, except for the cold of course. Cardiologist confirmed that there is no need for me to get any special testing to make sure I can do this event, so that makes me comfortable, especially since he is the former medical director of the NYC marathon.

Did a 3.40 hill run tonight in the snow. Did great but little slippery. I love running in the snow, though.

I have been out with tonsillitis and a chest cold.  Really FUN!  I have spent all my time recuperating.  Hopefully next week will bring a renewed immune system and  a return to the gym

Erica,

I've been nursing a sick kid since Monday (hence why I haven't been around much). Feel better!

Today is my master's swim, so I know I'm in for a workout. Add to that the foot of snow they're predicting and it should be a fun weekend.

Did 4.5 mile run during the blizzard of 2010. Only took 4 minutes longer than usual. It was awesome out there. Very peaceful, serene, and beautiful.

Nice - I wanted to at least walk the dog since my knee if feeling better but hubby was worried I would get hit by a plow (not that I have seen one for awhile). Add to that the fact that I'm having a challenge to keep my lungs inside my chest

Ironically, had to quit my allergy drugs before I went to the allergist for my testing, so didn't feel well for last part of January.  Now that we've confirmed 1 extreme and 5 moderate allergens, I've resumed my drugs and I feel well enough to start exercising again.

Went to the gym 3 times in the last 5 days and did an upper body resistance workout today:

 - 1 mile swim 4 days ago, fastest 50 at 32 seconds

 - 60 minute spin followed by 20 minute run, day before yesterday

 - 700 yard swim yesterday, fastest 50 at 33 seconds

Feels good to be back!

Good to hear Dylan! What are you allergic too? My son is allergic to tree nuts

I finally saw the orthopedist and have an answer on my knee. Apparently my knee cap is out of alignment, have a brace to wear that is supposed to help. We'll see

hi,
I had requested to join your group early on but didn't see a reply  approving me so I moved on and joined another group.  That group has lost it's mentor and has basically disbanded. When I contacted a mod about it, they said to see if I could come back to this one.

Maggie.

Very excited - I will be doing some great training later this week and next week in Arizona. Luckily there is a Lifetime fitness 15 minutes from where we are staying (my mom's)

Maggie - I'm sorry, I'll go back through the messages, thought I had replied to everyone. You are more than welcome to join our group!

Scott - Where is Az? One of the guys I went to USAT training with is the masters swim instructor at a Lifetime Fitness in Az.
