Veteran 145![]() ![]() | Subject: RE: triOK's group - The best group - ClosedOne more question...then I'll shut-up for a little while. I'm trying to schedule my races for this summer ... considering it's my first summer of doing this....how close together do I dare schedule events for to not risk injury....keeping in mind that I will not be pushing that hard for time...FINISHING is my goal. Can i do another one in 2 or 3 weeks after the first or is that not a good idea?? |

Veteran 174![]() ![]() ![]() | Subject: RE: triOK's group - The best group - ClosedAnother question...I log my workouts in a runner's calendar which is effective for me. However... I want to gain the max from this group yet at the same time I am not going to log tiny details. So... what is the best method and who can walk me through the easiest way to log workouts? Lastly, when stating goals is it better to state time or miles? Since I am slow... if I run 3 miles, that is a more intense workout for me given my slow, chubby, status :-) Elizabeth still sick but mentally getting psyched |

Veteran 172![]() ![]() ![]() San Antonio | Subject: RE: triOK's group - The best group - ClosedOutstanding! That video makes me want to share how I plan to K(m)YOA. Running is my challenge this year so Starting next week: Run 6 miles (three x 2) Swim 2x Bike 2x I'm not putting any requirements on the bike and swim distance because of time constraints. (there is that excuse again) As much as I'm committed to training for triathlon, I'm choosing to make my son my number one priority. SO..there it is guys! Hey Alan, Way to go on the trip to the pool this morning. Make the choice to have an outstanding day! Les |

Master 2115![]() ![]() Dothan, Al | Subject: RE: triOK's group - The best group - ClosedHere is my KYOA Challange: many times I have a Jekyl anf Hyde Personality. during the Mornings and throught out most oft he day i want to live the "Healthy Life Style." I want to eat healthful foods, exercise, and do the right things for my body. However as the evening rolls around I have this compelling urge to go to the neighborhood pub and have a few cocktails. I will fool myslef and say only a couple of beers, but that will usually turn into a few shots with the beers or a few mixed drinks. And here is the worst part...when I drink I wanna SMOKE!!!! So for the next six weeks my KYOA is to be my own bouncer and KICK MY OWN RIGHT OUT OF THE BAR! ( Super Bowl Possibly Excluded.) Note: I do fine when i am at work for 24 to 36 hours and have no cravings for alcohol. I believe my cravings come from my son being in bed, my wife on line ( going back to school) and there being nothing on TV. I have usually already finished my training for the day, and I am to tired to work out. It's just what I have preffered to do to relax. |

You don't have to pretty it up like a lot of people do (although I am having fun messing with mine). Are you going to use one of the plans from the site to train for your race? If so it is easy to import it into your log, and then after each workout you just go to your log and put in time and distance (or just time if you like From a personal stand point I love the log here, because it is public, and the fear of you all looking at it and seeing that I haven't worked out helps to get me out the door. But, I like that sort of motivation. YMMV. Let me know if you have more questions, I'll try to help out. |

Master 1473![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Subject: RE: triOK's group - The best group - ClosedMy "Kick Your Own @$$ Challenge": My KYOA Challenge goals will be as follows: Running: 4 times per week in accordance with my half marathon plan. Swimming: 2x per week Biking (trainer or spin class): Buy road bike (that's not a challenge, that's FUN!). Strength: Core work 3x per week I wanted to add a little more, but I think this is doable, yet will challenge my time management. Edited by Aviator1596 2008-01-09 11:17 AM |

Hmmmm, never thought of that. I better not, it might make me cry (LOL). Hopefully there will be nothing to log. I very, very, rarely drink round the house. So if I stay out of the pub, it should be no problem. |

Extreme Veteran 312![]() ![]() ![]() | Subject: RE: triOK's group - The best group - ClosedWell I am game for a challenge. It might just be what I need to get everything going. However, I'm not sure what to make for my goals. I dont want to make it so hard that Im bearing all for all to see, but I also dont want to make it so easy that it feels like cheating. Oh well here I go. I'd better start shaving my, ummm, never mind. Swimming: 4 times a week, equaling 4,000 yards per week. Running(outside or treadmill): 4 times a week, equalling 12 miles per week. Biking (trainer, outside or spin class): 4 times a week. Lets say 4 hours per week. I will need an arse kicking when it comes to what I put in my mouth, but I dont even know where to start. Anyone think this is to hard or to easy. I hope the other group has some hotties, because I feel like seeing what they have, when we win. I CANT WAIT....he he Curt Edited by mifiremedic 2008-01-09 2:58 PM |

Losers have to change their avatar to a skin pic.....No sand bagging. I am a cop and will find you!!!! Gator is bringing out the trash talk awfully early! Ok... who's in? A little clarification: I want to see goals listed for ALL 3 sports (unless you are injured). If you suck at swimming, use this as an excuse to increase time in the pool. Remember, challenging but not killing yourself. |

Subject: RE: triOK's group - The best group - ClosedPost your goals week by week... that way you can change them as needed. Post all goals by Sunday afternoon at 3 pm. The week will start on Monday. I am going to do scoring a little different since we have lots of people... and I want to offer extra incentive to get your workouts done. I am going to do a point system. I am going to take the percentage you make to your goal, and use that as a point system. If you make 100% of your goal, your team will get an extra 100 points. I will then add up all the points for the team, then divide that number by the number of team members. For example, if I make 66% of my goal, my team gets 66 points. But if I make 100% of my goal, my team will get 200 points. See how that works? HOWEVER: I don't want anyone to be sandbagging this challenge... soooooo, if you make your goal of 100% in week one, you must increase your goal by AT LEAST 10% to recieve bonus points the next week. And if you are consistently making your goals with 110% or more, I will increase your goals for you. NO SANDBAGGING! This is a CHALLENGE! So each person has the ability to add 800 points to their team each week: 200 pts running 200 pts biking 200 pts swimming 200 pts strength (this one is optional... the other 3 are not. You MUST have at least one session in each of the three disciplines unless you are injured).
Disclaimer: it doesn't matter what your goals are. Just make one. And challenge yourself. If you are only able to run for 2 minutes without stopping, then that's your goal. Do it this week and work to increase it next week. If your goal is to swim 50 yds without having to gasp for air, then that is a great goal. Work to make it 75 next week. This is what the challenge is about. If doesn't matter what you can do now, but it does matter what you can do after its over. Make a goal, and all of us are going to help you get there. (Also, for those of you that have bad joints, injuries, or have trouble running, try a run/walk technique. It really really really helps.)
