#245- 7 miles

6 hour ride followed by 7 mile run. Longest training day on schedule down.

It was oppressively humid the whole day, and I rode a challenging bike course. With 3 minutes left in my run, the skies opened up and it rained HARD. It was absolutely euphoric. I was actually laughing out loud. It was a great day. Now to put my feet up and have a beer or two.

AWESOME!  Congratulations, it must feel really, really good to have that under your belt now.

Gotta love that hard rain, huh? :)

#246- 7 miles

As great as yesterday was, today was pretty terrible. Ironman training is pretty fitting, since my legs felt like they were made of iron today. I had to work, got home to run in the hottest part of the day, really humid. I ran a loop I was very familiar with, and there were hills I'd never seen before.

Ran by a bunch of houses where they were having 4th parties, splashing in their swimming pools with their grills fired up and smelling wonderful. Speaking of food, I had some pizza for lunch that did not agree with me and had to make a pit stop in the woods where mosquitos made a meal of my backside (at least 10 bites on the right cheek alone...I counted).

Day is not as bad as I made it sound (work and training aside), Hope everyone had/is having a great 4th.

That's an awfully quick clip for a 12 miler, and hills and humidity to boot.  Nice.

ImSore--I'm sorry.  Sometimes we just have days like that, huh?  I was just thinking about Ironman training today.  I really don't know how people do it.  I'm only training for a half and I feel maxed out.  You've had so many strong sessions lately, tis is just a tiny blip.

Happy 4th everyone.  Thanks for doing this.  I'm really enjoying it.

Great training day! I think IM training is harder than training for a 50 mile run. Not easy trying to get a long ride in followed by a run.

I haven't done either race, but I'm sure it would really depend on what 50 mile course. A marathon is tough enough...50 miles is scary.

10.4 mi - hills....my body hates me. Also did 3500 swim workout.

Day 592, 35 miles.

What a day, I worked 3rd shift and got done at 0630, came home changed into my running cloths and waited for Joe to come over and out for a 35 mile run, Joe ran 14 with me. To say I am exhausted is an understatement but it is a good simulation of how tired I'll be near the end of the 100 miler and as bad as I felt today, if I feel that good at the end of the upcoming race I will be real happy. Man is it hot and humid out again, it just tries to suck the life out of you. I was a little slower than last week but it was much hotter today, plus I have been up since 8 pm last night. I got in 110.93 miles this week, 3rd week in a row over 100 miles. Good night all I have to work again tonight at 10:30 pm.

Not sure how you do it. I've worked two overnight shifts in the last 2 months or so and they wreak havoc on my training. I have to come home and sleep first, and when I wake up my training session is pretty much a bust, I have zero energy the next day if I have to stay up all night.

#249- 20 miles- very humid, poor hydration, sweat a ton. Very very very glad to be done today.

Last long run of IM training. Peak week done, time to taper. Finally...

I hear you on this heat. Nice job continuing the streak through IM training. You deserve the taper and good luck with IM, I hope you rock it.
