ebshot - 2008-09-23 9:47 PM Hubby went out to sea yesterday for a planned run.  He came home last night.  WTF??????  Something broke and they came home.  Come on!  I was looking forward to a little peace and quiet last night.  All I wanted to do was watch a little Dancing With the Stars and some MNF but nooooooo, hubby comes home and ruins is all.  Don't get me wrong, it was nice and all to have him home for another night but sometimes it's nice to have some time to myself too!  Maybe tonight.

Sigh ... husbands require SO much attention! I know how you feel

LOL... are you sure it's just husbands?  I think it might be assumed that if you have a Y chromosome that could be the case

Ouch a little harsh?

Me?  Harsh?  Well, I am evil and cold hearted and all, but in this case, was just teasing .

what the heck I wrong with people? Where do these idiots learn how to drive. This is why I ride my bike everywhere. I had to drop off some production equipment and cameras and unfortunatly that stuff doesn't travel well on the back of a bike so I had to drive and I almost got hit twice. I had a guy almost turn right into me and what is with people goi g into turn lanes just so they can go strait and cut off 4 cars. Because that extra 10 seconds makes a difference at the next red light they get stuck at. It makes me so mad oh well can't do anything about it so I just have to let it go. That was my rant for the day.

Prickly Pear Margarita

1/2 cup crushed ice
1 ounces freshly squeezed lime juice
1 ounce undiluted frozen limeade
2 ounces Tequila
1 1/2 ounces Triple Sec
1 ounce prickly pear cactus juice*
1 tablespoon sugar or corn syrup
Lime wedges for garnish

I knew I could count on someone to find the recipe. It's the best thing ever!! I used to live in San Antonio and it was a specialty at Boudro's. Now I'm in the Hill Country and no one can seem to make one. We can't find prickly pear cactus juice anywhere. Considering I'm currently pregnant probably a good thing since I keep craving them.

I hear ya on that.  Especially now that people are constantly "connected"... texting, crackberry-ing, etc. while they drive.

What's worse is the more mature adult (old person) on the phone and pretending to drive. We live in an area with a lot of retirees and I am constantly dodging them on a daily basis. If I rode my bike to run errands, I am quite sure I'd be dead by now.

Make it a virgin dont add the tequila or triple sec and you have to love the internet
Prickly pear cactus syrup
The syrup should be okay just use 1/2 an ounce instead of the full ounce and use 1 ounce of sweet and sour. that should get you pretty close.

Ohhhh, there are two places here that have rockin' prikly pear 'ritas.  I think one of them might even sell the prickly pear juice.

I actually got hooked on prickly pear lemonade (which is easy to doctor with booze in case you were wondering ) when I spent some time in Arizona.  Mmmm...

I love this thread. I think for the last 5 or more pages all we have talked about is booze or booze related things (those cabana boys), and cookies (and other baked goods). Good stuff!!

Bolthouse Farms makes an awesome Prickly Pear Lemonade.  As a matter of fact, I have some in my fridge.  Hmmm...I wonder if we also have some tequila...

Slugger - 2008-09-23 3:21 AM Fav Cocktails: Madras - cranberry juice, orange juice, vodka (various flavors, though I'm big into making them with a combo of peach and vanilla vodkas) Irish Car Bomb - hooooooooly yum!!!! What a way to start off a good night! Vanilla Coke - yes, yes, more vanilla vodka! Also a good way to start off a night, as the caffeine helps cancel out the sleepiness of the alcohol. Right now I'm in to asking the bartender to make me something fruity. If they ask, I'll specify with rum or vodka, but I like them to go to town. Had some really yummy ones that way, some not so good. But now I am sad, because I don't really get to go out for drinks. Working third shift stinks that way, though I'm drinking far less than I would otherwise! I just can't bring myself to make yummy drinks in the morning, and I can't drink before work.

Yay!  It looks like I'm not the only lush of the group.

Don't give up on the after-work drinks.  I used to work a 12-hour night shift.  Believe me when I tell you that a cold beer is just as delicious at 7am as it is at 7pm.

When I graduate I will be getting a degree in television production with an emphasis in post-production editing. From the school of cinema and television arts at California state university Northridge. How is that for a mouthful. Can't wait to be done in december. And wish me luck I just had one of my short films entered in 3 film festivals. I hope I place.

Well core goal is now complete.  Hoping to close out swimming tomorrow morning.  Running and Biking are going to take a little longer, but that's ok.  Hope everybody else is seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.  If not, then the light coming from behind might be the electricity zipping from the tasers and I suggest moving very fast.

Oh my - its like talking my family... my brother and I both have the same degree... his in television and mine in radio - both hands on qualifications so he went straight into field directing/producing  and I went into radio production...

So im just wondering what 1920s documentary has to do with post production editing? Illustration of styles and techniques??

Good luck with the festival - any one I would know? Ive spent long mornings at the post office with my brother sending out short films all over the world... Ive told him if he gets accepted somewhere like France Id love to come

Documentary tradition was the least terrible of the manditory theory classes. As far as the festvals. The student Emmys. We are trying for sundance but I think we missed the cut off but possibly tv los angeles film festival.

That all sounds good to me!!! The coolest thing about Sundance is every year they take a few random film makers and give them a chance! Its not just the established production teams.

Those theory classes sound nuts... I will be thankful that we didnt really have to do anything like that... history and ethics (being broadcasting) and stuff like that but was always linked back to creating an execution and an evaluation of how that would relate to our work rather than dates, facts, figures etc...

So you didnt have to spend a lot of time with stuff you couldnt relate to.. if that makes sense...and being really hands on ALWAYS makes things much more interesting!
