New user 141 | Subject: RE: Ironman Texas bridgeland - 2011-05-10 10:54 PMI know this has been discussed some threads back, but I'll put this out there. Since there will be bottle handups every 10 miles on the bike, then one could actually just have an aero drink bottle and just keep reloading it every 30 min or 40 min (10 mile intervals). I am thinking of doing this and just have one cage on the bike for a water bottle for gels and food. What is everyone else considering? I have a super wing with two additional cages, but I am thinking that would be an over kill, and extra weight. I am going to have 2 in the wing and taking hand up at every station that way I will have extra just incase I drop a hand up, I have dropped them before so I want to make sure I have what I.need onboard. I am also using my aero bottle up front and my cages down to put the used bottles to throw out at the next station. But I drink more than you Pedro so I may not be a good judge for that in your case.Edited by will6899 2011-05-10 11:25 PM |

That would suck with nothing else on the bike. Wing it is then as a backup! Plus that ride is going to be a hell of a lot hotter than all the training rides we did!bridgeland - 2011-05-10 10:54 PMI know this has been discussed some threads back, but I'll put this out there. But plan on taking cold hand up every station to refill with cold fluids for sure. What time is every one going to the swim Friday...I am not swimming but would like to meat every one?bridgeland - 2011-05-10 11:31 PM will6899 - 2011-05-10 11:23 PM Good point Will, didn't think about the possibly of dropping a handup. Extreme Veteran 492 Frisco | Subject: RE: Ironman Texas dodgersmom - 2011-05-10 4:25 PM Words of advice from me to you. For the next few days, it may not be a great idea to walk around barefoot. Too darn easy to stub your toes. Ouch I have a scout camp this weekend to attend and my biggest fear is coming back with a case of poison something!!! I told the wife I will be the guy wearing the biohazard suit all weekend and that anyone feeling ill needs to report it immediately so that i can quarantine myself from said individual! .... i found this the other day and thought it fit perfectly.... TAPER MADNESS! 1) Out of control phobia of germs. No infection, flu, or cold will stand between me and the starting line. 2) Self proclaimed expert meteorologist. I have withstood all temperatures, wind gusts, and precipitation But now with weeks to go, I have my email, IM, and cell phone set up to provide up to the minute reports on the 3, 5, 7, and 14 day forecast for race day. 3) Race gear achieves honored status in every room of the house. Instead of being throw on the floor, in the laundry or stuffed in a bag, my chosen race gear is clean, folded and perched on a shelf, chair or other place of high honor a few days/weeks before the event. Family members are instructed not to touch it, move it or refold it. It has a purpose. 4) Any excursion will require a safety review. Someone casually mentions going out for a meal, drink, shopping, whatever, and I will have to do a mental scan of the route, the establishment, and company before deciding if it is worth the risk of a sprained ankle, chance of eating the wrong food, or picking up a stray germ. 5) Feel any ache or pain of the tiniest degree and then worry about it to the greatest extreme. I have held off minor and major injuries throughout my training, but now in just a few days I have developed aches, pains, tweaks, and tight spots all in places I haven't before and in ways I haven't experienced before.

Catch fresh cold water at every aid station and then use the small cell on my aero bottle to mix water and accelerade. I can make it 2 stations on the water in the front cell so I figure if I miss one I can catch up at the next station. Then its Gels and powerbars for nutrition .. still havent decided about special needs but maybe 2 hour bottle of accelerade just in case something goes wrong out on the course and some different nutrition in case I want it. |

We have to look at the positives.... This forecast has changed every day since last Saturday. It will continue to change Temps - 88 is much better than 98 24% chance of thunderstorms means there is a better chance we will not have them than we will 6 hours of perciptation means I will be dry for almost 1/3 of my race Max UV index of 4 means sunburn will not be a big issue And do I really need to address 6 mph winds! At this point we all need to take the lemons and make well...lemon flovored Ironman Perform!! |
