Wow! Great job for the first swim of the year.
Thanks. My shoulders are feeling it today but everything else is fine.

Wow.  You can just jump in and knock out a swim like that?  That's very impressive.

Gentlemen, I am officially bowing out.  I was planning on running Tuesday night--I was traveling.  I got to my Mom's house late, and she was a mess (dealing with her husband who is on the downhill slide and is making her life very hard).  She needed me, and I absolutely couldn't go for a run.  I ran Wednesday morning and thought I might see if you would allow me a double up to stay in the game, but I got home late again and my kids had waited up for me to get home, and I'm taking that as a sign.

I'm hoping to streak again in the fall, after tri season is over, but I hope you don't mind if I pop in and say hi.  I am so impressed with you big number guys.  Best of luck to all of you with your goals.  Hugs.

Nice workout.

Day 596, 20.4 miles. I will be out camping for the weekend but still running every day, I just will not be posting up until late Sunday night or Monday morning. Lots of beer to drink with some old friends this weekend.

Switch do not be a stranger here and sorry to hear about the family issues. Hope everything gets better soon. Yes I just jump in with both feet sometimes, I plan on doing the same swim again Tuesday as long as I can get someone to kayak for me so I do not get run over by any boats.

I'm on the verge of starting a new streak. 2 miles last night, and my calf feels okay. I might not officially start for a bit yet, I haven't decided. Just don't want to push the injury, but so far I feel totally fine.

#256- 10mi- big hills!

Was out in the Appalachians this weekend. Not sure if I can count this as tapering since there was a 600 ft climb right in the middle. Challenging, but fun.

Out camping and drinking lots of beer this weekend. Friday's run 6 miles, Saturday's 3 miles and today day 599, 25.2 miles. I slacked off a bit this weekend on mileage but had a great time with some old friends which was more important to me than racking up some wile this weekend. Plus I needed a step back week after three weeks in a row 100 miles per week. I did run 89.7 miles this week though.

Day 600, 10.1 miles. In the last 600 days of running I have totaled 5311.8 miles of running and many pairs of shoe. I have done 6 marathons, one 50k, one 50 miler, several half marathon and shorter distances, one 22.7 mile race (which I won), one Olympic distance tri, one adventure race which you had running, biking, swimming, orienteering, more running and a canoe trip for a total of 58 miles which I took 2nd place in. Hopefully this almost 51 year old body has many more years of streaking and racing left in it. Less than 5 weeks to go until my 100 miler and I have 4 more marathons planned this year.

Averaging almost 9 miles per day over 600 days straight. Incredible. Should nail the 100 miler, hope you don't have to deal with this heat.

#257-2 mile recovery day.

Had a 14 hour work day, don't really feel recovered.

Day 602, 25 hot and humid miles but I ran into a couple of friends and different times out running so I had some unexpected and very welcome company for about 9 of the miles. There are crickets in this thread, it is slowly fading into the sunset.

We can't let it fade away, I still have a few months before I hit day 365.

#260- 20 min easy (ish) was like 100 deg. Tapering...legs feel heavy despite doing only half the volume of last week.

I think we are down to 3 actively streaking. We may have a resurgence come off season, hope to stick it out that long...already dreading run day after IM.

Good luck with the IM and the taper. My legs always feel heavy the first week of taper and slowly get better after that.

I was thinking the same thing about the run after my 100 miler, that it was going to be tough. Then I thought I will get my Saturday and Sunday run both during the race so I can go until Monday evening before I have to run again. So it'll be about a 36 hour break or so between runs. I am sure my legs will be tired and a bit stiff but I like thinking about the fact that it'll be a fair amount of time to rest as well.

Day 605, 9.1 early morning miles. Up at 3 am and out the door by 3:20 before work. I have a wedding to go to after work so I needed to get this done before. It was still 73 degrees and muggy at 3:20.

7.5 mi. I was disappointed when I got back and it was "only" 91 degrees. I felt way hotter. Heat index said 106, and usually that "doesn't count," but today, based on how I felt, I am going with 106.

Day 606, 38.2 miles after work. It got dark so I cut the run short of 40 miles but could have run it easily. This run gives me hope that the 100 miler will go relatively well. I ran it fast for a training run but I just felt good out there today. I ran 113.88 miles this week, my highest total ever but I think I'll start cutting back the mile a little next week and then it is three week taper time. Here is a link from my Garmin from today's run if anyone is interested.

Nice to see you getting your weekly mile up there, feels good doesn't it. Just about two months and you have a year as well.

Day 607, 7.6 miles. I was suppose to run 10 but after the pace for the 38 last night I cut it short. Plus I will be getting early before work the next two days to run because I will swimming about 2.7 miles or so in the lake after work both days.

Yes I know all about him, amazing is all I can say.

I had a nice 2.85 mile swim in the lake tonight interrupted by a thunderstorm, we had to go to shore and wait it out. We were about 3/4 of the way through the swim when it came, pretty nasty too. The good news about it is the humidity is gone for a few days.
