Day 609 and I was too tired to get up before work to run today so I ran 2.2 miles during my lunch break at work to keep the streak alive. I swam 2.2 miles in the lake this afternoon after work. The first half was into strong wind and waves, and it took 50 minutes but the seconded half with the wind and waves took 28 minutes. What a huge difference.

His streak just ended, amazing. He even averaged 9 miles/day for the streak. I'd have to run till I died to even have a shot at the number of days, and the volume...forget it....no chance...actually, realistically I have no shot at either, I'll just be content with being in awe of what he did. Hoping to get through this next week, then I'll see if I can make a year. Then...who knows.

#266- 3 mi easy.

#63 - 4.39. I was thinking that starting a new streak tomorrow would be a good idea until I wandered by this thread and read this article. Thanks to jobaxas for posting this.

What does a taper look like for a 100 miler?

And that 7:06 pace is quite zippy.  Very, very nice work :)

I am going to follow Pfitz's taper schedule for a marathon. I may cut some of the mileage but not the speed work.

Day 612, 30.4 miles. My last run over 20 miles before the 100 miler, let the taper begin. I am so ready to taper this time around. I did cut my mileage a bit this week too, I only ran 88.28 miles, plus I swam just over 5 miles. I am doing the swimming portion of an adventure race for a team this coming Saturday, it is 2.6 miles in the lake.

Run #309, finished up another 65 mile week. My only triathlon of the year this weekend. I would have skipped it, but this will be my 14th year in a row, just another streak to keep alive.

Is there anything you do to break up 100 miles in your mind?

I know with a marathon I usually count up for the first half then start counting down from 13. Not sure if that will work as good for 50 miles or more.

Alright, I think I'm ready to get back at it. 2 miles this morning for #1.

I've been running for a few weeks now but didn't necessarily want to push it to daily running. I think I'm ready to go now.

#270 26.2 IMLP

I will do a race report with more detail, but overall went well. Averaged 9:21mi/mile, ran 4:05 (overall time 11:43). I really thought I would go under 4, but I had some GI issues early on and had to take on just a bit of water for a few aid stations, and I think that caught up with me a bit later on in the run (but it may have just been overall exhaustion).

#271- 2 miles. I wanted to sleep in, but I woke up early, just before dawn. My mind started thinking about the race and I couldn't fall back asleep. So I went out for a run. I stayed in Saranac Lake, and ran by the lake in town as the sun came up. It was nice and peaceful. Worked out a bit of stiffness at a slow pace. Felt good.

Wow!  Awesome race, and very nice time.  I am really looking forward to reading your RR.  Congratulations on the huge accomplishment that is finishing an Ironman, and super cool that you got your 2 done early today.  Strong work:)

Congrats on a good finish and keeping the streak alive the day after. I am sure you do not need to be told to take your next few runs easy as in pace. Again great job keeping a streak alive while training and completing an Iron Man. You rock!!!!!!

Day 616, 13.2 miles. I have shattered my previous high monthly total for running this month. I ran 433 miles in July plus I swam 7.75 miles. My high before was 387 miles for one month I believe.

Day 617, 6.2 miles. I am now running a half marathon and swimming the 2.6 miles for a team for an adventure race Saturday. Not sure why I said I would run with the 100 miler two weeks after this race but I guess it is because I am a runner and that is what runners do, run.

You should handle 13.1 just fine, and even though it's a race, try not to go too hard. Got to remember the big picture. Just go out and have some fun.

#275- 5.5 mi. Steady pace. IT band above right knee a bit tight, but other than that, legs are coming back. Maybe a little foam roll. Swam about 1500 to 2000 yd also, sort of lost count. Didn't have any real structured workout. Just doing recovery this week, letting my body go through the motions, no intensity at all.

I thought about your advice and the little voice in my head while I was running the half today and kept myself to my marathon pace. I ran the half in 1:40:24 and the swim was tough into a 12-16 mph wind on the lake but still managed the 2.6 mile swim in 1:35 22.
