Master 1690 Metro NY Area | Subject: RE: Team #4 - August 4 is More Challenge This summer has been weird in the NE. So much rain. I'm glad I have my elliptical and recumbent bike for when nature doesn't cooperate. I'm also considering a treadmill for the winter though I actually like running in the cold weather I don't like running in the dark or icy conditions. Today I got a nice ride in though. Now I'm sure I'll meet my bike goal this month. Only 5 more hours of cycling and 30 minutes of swimming to meet my goals for the month. Good luck everybody! Keep up the good work! |

Master 1531 TORONTO | Subject: RE: Team #4 - August 4 is More Challenge This summer was supposed to be my first *real* summer of triathlons. Last summer I'd only done mini sprints. But then I got in a bike accident at the end of May which took a while to heal from, then the city went on strike and closed down all the pools and between the rain/heat & job - it hasn't gone as smoothly as hoped that's for sure! I'm just about to leave for a spontaneous trip up north with two small children - no other adults - which means... my challenge goals are quickly be reassessed! The rattlers are out in full force this summer so no long walks in the woods and nervous about swimming across lake while kids play on the docks so.... I *might* just get caught up on my DeepH2OAqua fit sessions! But the chances of my getting another 7 hours in on the bike or 10 miles on the run is looking slim Sorry team! |

Veteran 369 Fairbanks | Subject: RE: Team #4 - August 4 is More Challenge Move complete!! Well, at least it's complete in that everything is officially moved out of the old place into the new. The new place, however, looks like one giant garage sale. Stuff everywhere. I've been getting some training in the past week, just not logging it; I went to my log now and updated everything. So I'm much closer, but still have a ways to go. I need 3 more yoga, 5 bike, 2 run, and 5 strength sessions to complete my goals. So that's . . . 15 sessions in 6 days. I have a plan, which involves strength in the morning, relaxing yoga sessions before bed, and biking/running in between. We'll see how it goes!! |

Master 1817 Lafayette, IN | Subject: RE: Team #4 - August 4 is More Challenge Hiya, Thunderbirds! I've really been cruising along on the training this month. I hit my goals for both the bike and the swim early last week. I went ahead and upped both of those goals to help keep me on track for the rest of the month. All that remains is to get to the pool. As a matter of fact, tomorrow morning I'm going to swim, swim, swim! Hope everyone else is doing well! |

Awesome I am kind of like you with the bike and run pretty much completed and a lot of swiiming left to do . It will be hot here this week so a good excuse for me to work on my strokes and help complete my challenge goals. |

Expert 908 Niskayuna, New York | Subject: RE: Team #4 - August 4 is More Challenge After a wasted weekend, I was able to get in a run and core workout last night. Today I went with my friend to his race venue and we swam in the lake then rode the bike course. I'm either going to run or lift weights tonight, so something will get done. I *think* I'll be able to reach my goals for the challenge. I always go down to the wire with my challenges, figures that this is no different! |

Master 1817 Lafayette, IN | Subject: RE: Team #4 - August 4 is More Challenge Woo Hoo! I actually went to the pool today! First time in over three months. And I owe it all to this challenge. Well, that and the fear of drowning during my Oly next month. |

Expert 908 Niskayuna, New York | Subject: RE: Team #4 - August 4 is More Challenge I ran 8 miles before work today (my last day of work at the Saugerties Animal Hospital.. kinda bittersweet) and lifted weights earlier tonight. I have my bike/run miles planned out for the weekend so that I can hit my goals. |

Expert 908 Niskayuna, New York | Subject: RE: Team #4 - August 4 is More Challenge Just took a huge chunk out of my run goal. Did 13.2 miles (my longest run EVER) and felt pretty good! I was actually hoping it would be closer to 14, but it still leaves me with just 4 miles to go for the run goal. Also, with the amount of rain that came down during the almost 2 hour run, I should be able to count it as a swim session too! Keep up the good work team! |

Regular 59 Hanover, PA | Subject: RE: Team #4 - August 4 is More Challenge I met my two of my four goals so far this month. I will finish the third which is my run on Sunday. I am running the Annapolis 10 Miler which will put me over my goal. Only thing left will be the bike so hopefully I can get 25 miles on the bike between Sunday and Monday! Good luck TEAM! |

Champion 6656 | Subject: RE: Team #4 - August 4 is More Challenge AHHHH!!!! I haven't even STARTED med school yet and it is already running my time away...well I guess the fact I was away from home for so long is also to blame for everything that had to be done for today because tomorrow is the start of the weekend and I start on Monday... So I am definately not going to be able to pull of 100%...I'm going to give it my darndest to get as high as I can in the next 2 days...and maybe Monday morning...but that might end up being a little bit of a bust with orientation starting!!!!! AND my BIG race (aka the race I choose to do instead of the olympic I had to cancel because of my Nana's passing) is NEXT WEEKEND!!! So I also don't want to kill myself before my only tri of the season! :P Congrats team for what you have all accomplished so far!!!! Thanks for the awesome month!! It is definately easier staying motivated to train with a team like you guys behind me!! |

Champion 6656 | Subject: RE: Team #4 - August 4 is More Challenge doctorbob18 - 2009-08-28 8:58 PM ^^^ good luck in medical school! Thanks!! I'm SOOOOOOO excited!!! I don't think I've ever been this excited for school ever...not for starting high school, my undergrad...maybe I was for kindergarten...I can't remember haha... So I felt bad for letting the team down a little bit and went for a run...man it gets dark fast now I finished around 930 and was thankful for the lights on the street by the trail (I ran the course clockwise just incase it was dark nearing the end of my run--I'm strategic! ) Only a 30min...but I did a 4.5-5km in 25:25!!! (I know the time is super odd...and I can't get "accurate" distance because its a trail...the base map says its 5km or so...haha...I'm getting faster now!!!) |

Expert 908 Niskayuna, New York | Subject: RE: Team #4 - August 4 is More Challenge Just got back from a 4 mile recovery run that got me to my goal for the month! The weather is supposed to be nice so I should be able to get my bike miles in over the next 2 days. I'll have to find a way to fit the swims in, I may have to do some balance drills in my tiny little pool to get there, but I think I can do it! |

Master 1531 TORONTO | Subject: RE: Team #4 - August 4 is More Challenge Well vacation was great and I spent oodles of time in water doing aquafit equivalent but there is *NO WAY* I can swim 3 sessions, bike 7 hours and run 10 miles all tomorrow so unfortunately - spontaneous vacation means goals not met. Sorry team! Glad to see so many of you made it through!!! |

Master 2055 Santa Clarita | Subject: RE: Team #4 - August 4 is More Challenge Hi Team , First its been great to read all about your training and success and setbacks . It helps a little bit to get me out of the door. I am squeezing in some last minute swimming in but i will be short of my ambitious goal . I kind of forgot about my 4th sport . Oopps with my league finishing and being away i missed out there . > I really got carried away with running this month. We had great weather and i really enjoyed a local cross-country series . And my run total is way beyond what i tought i would run . Racing wise august for me included a sprint triathlon where i placed & i took 2 minutes off my july time and 3 * 3mile races. I did some altitude training at 7200ft . Also I biked the local nasty HIM magic mountain man course complete with with 5000ft of climbing. Train safe and Be well |

Expert 908 Niskayuna, New York | Subject: RE: Team #4 - August 4 is More Challenge Hey team.. I have some bad news. Unfortunately I was not able to make the time for a century ride today, so my bike goal will be very short. My goals were very ambitious to begin with, and preparing to move across the country took more time away from training than I expected. Having two races crossed off my schedule didn't help either. I feel like this challenge helped keep me going though, it would've been very easy to let all my training slip, so thanks for that! I'm gonna go hop in the pool and try to do some kicking drills (no room for much else) to try to bump my percentage up a little. Sorry about not getting 100% though, first time I failed to do so in a challenge |

Master 1817 Lafayette, IN | Subject: RE: Team #4 - August 4 is More Challenge Well - another month and another challenge are in the books. Positives for the month - I ran my highest milage month ever with just a smidge over 80 miles. I continued to work on my cycling and feel like I'm going to be good to go for my Oly in Sept. I made it back to the pool after a 3 month stretch of slackerdom. I feel re-inspired in the pool and am ready to make sure I hit most of my swim sessions for the rest of the year. Negatives for the month - Unfortunately, I was still slacker-like when it came to the swim. I only managed 3 of the 6 swim sessions. And one of those "sessions" was actually part of a triathlon. Still, I guess 2 swim workouts this month is still better than 0 swim workouts last month. Congrats to everyone who met all their goals! It was nice "meeting" you all. Hope to continue to see you around the challenge forums! |

Regular 59 Hanover, PA | Subject: RE: Team #4 - August 4 is More Challenge I finished short on the bike ride this month. Sorry. I still finished with a 96% overall so that is pretty good I think. Next challenge I hope to hit my mark! Good job to all I see a lot of positive numbers out there. |
