Fernando-
I am totally intrigued by the Total Immersion program!  I haven't gotten in the pool to try out any of it yet, and I am trying to reconcile it with what I am learning in my Adult swim class, but I love the concept.  Thanks! Marla

It takes a few tries, but once it clicks its amazing. Of course I'm sure it takes a while to perfect it, but the benefits come very quickly.

A little bummed at the moment because I have a raging sinus infection, that is keeping me from doing much.  I know it's OK to be sick and heal, but I want to keep moving!  I feel like there is so much preparation to be done before my first tri in July.  It's hard to sit still.  =)

Hey guys, checking in. Apologies for absence. Thanks to all who are keeping things going. Lots of reasons for my absence, but I just wanted to drop in and say I'm sorry I haven't delivered as I had planned. Many unexpected crashes in January. I'm back to running and on trainer today. I'll check in later.

Good to see you Twylite!  It's been a little lonely here.  =)

Did Pilates yesterday and plan to get in the pool or on the bike tomorrow, depending on how the day goes. Either way I will be doing something!  yay!

How's everyone else doing?  Marla

I've been bit by the same bug. Hovering around same weight now for almost 10 days. My waist is definitively changing. I downsized to medium size scrub pants and wear my belt one hole tighter. Sooooo...patience is the name of the game.Fernando

Hello everyone, I hope all of you are doing good and still training.  As for me i had a terrible week eating and excersise wise.  Last time I did weights i hurt my lower back (problems since I was 18)  Was reasting for about a week so no weights or running, biking or swimming.  The good news is a did weights today minus a couple of excersises.  I am shooting for the IM distance for Feb.  What was I thinkng lol.  Winter is slowly taking its tole on me.  Cold and no snow is depression.  Anyway keep up the positives attitudes.

Jon

Swim: 2.2 mile

I swallowed a ton of water in my swim class yesterday.  Definitely the area where I need the most work.  I think for the next several weeks, swimming will trump running and biking until I get more comfortable.  STill plan to do enough to make those HIM numbers though.

First entry:

175:175:2000 swim
0:0:56 bike
0:0:13.1 run

Have a great day all!  Marla

I am still gasping and sputtering asI try to get my breathing into a rhythm, but every once in a while I'll get 3 or 4 good strokes in a row.  It's just out of reach at the moment.  But I like seeing those little burst of "ooh, that felt right!"
My back crawl is improving anyway, since that's where I go to get my act back together.  I am so grateful that I have several months to keep at it.

Trapped in the snow. Hopping to go skiing but I don't think I can drive out there. Was checking everyone's training log. The majority of the group has no logs since late january. Seems like interest is fading. . Fernando

I'm baaaaack!  Wow you guys did a lot while I was gone.  Not even sure where to begin.

I enjoyed my trip and even managed to lose 2 lbs.  So excited for that. I was just hoping to not GAIN any with all that bread and soda.  But I kept the soda to one meal a day.  The water from the faucet is not advisable for travelers, so I had to conserve on the water we got from the springs (15km trip to get more).  But it's good to be home and now I can dive back in to my life where I left off.

Congrats on all the weight loss and goals that have been met.  And Daniel (if I knew your last name I'd add it too!!! ) I'm shocked.  You can't give up!  You are my cheer leader.  Look at the big picture, not just the results of 1 week.

I wanted to be bold and do the IM goal, but to be realistic it's almost the middle of the month. So am going to start with the HIM goals and see if I can figure out the format.  My gym is opening a new location in a few weeks with a LONG pool.  Can't wait.

What are our goals for the coming week?

Welcome back Maggie!  Glad you had a good trip.  It's so hard to maintain when you are away, so great job!  My goals are to keep pace with what I have been doing, which is at least 1 bike, 1 run, 1 strength, and 2 swims during the week.  Once I can start training outside, I will increase my distances, but for now I am just happy to workout as often as I can without neglecting my family.

Off to shovel now!  Marla

ps If you have Daniel's email, maybe you could send him a note to tell him we miss him here, and we hope he is still pressing on.  =)

Just sent him a text with your message.

Why has it gotten so quiet around here? I thought we were supposed to be here to encourage each other and press on towards the goal despite it all?  And where is our mentor???

Daniel here...

I am in my last graduate course ever - finishing up my third masters.  The teacher thinks I am taking notes!!!

First things first.  Maggie rocks!  She has been my coach, cheerleader and buddy since we started.  She will get this group back on track again - believe me.  She demands the best from everyone and will not accept excuses!  If you do not believe me...  post some excuses and read her response to it!

My workouts have been wonderful - even with a tough graduate program and life.  I will restart my full iron tri for February tomorrow and start recording my stats here.  Have not weighed in for two weeks!  It feels cathartic!  Dropped WW too.  Just hammering away for the love of exercise and letting the weight and other issues fall where they may.

My quote and thought for the week.

"Today I begin a new life!"
Og Mandino   The Greatest Salesman in the World
The Scroll Marked I

This is my favorite book of all time!  I will not fail.  The only difference between those that fail and those who succeed lies in the difference of their habits.  Good habits are the key to all success!

A new "scroll" will appear each Sunday.

I go back to one of my earliest posts.  The "IT" is what pulls you through to reach your goal when you have grad classes, snow, work issues... there are no excuses.  Why are you doing this.  Burn that reason into your soul!  Get R Done!  It will get you out of bed, off the couch, out of your excuse when the temptation to eat what you shouldn't or not exercise wants to take over.

Back to paying attention to class.

Watch out!  Maggie and I are back and have an attitude.  Let's kick it and turn this group around and have some fun!

Just signed up for my 20th marathon this morning.  Chicago Marathon 10-10-10!  I have the greatest "Running Man" tattoo on my right ankle to prove my others...

Have a fun Super Bowl Sunday!

Daniel

Well gee thanks Daniel but I'm not the boss. Just want to inspire others to do what they came here to do.  Learn, grow, get in better shape, and help each other.

I challenge each of you to post at least one inspire a day on another member's log.  Seemed like we posted to each other the first week and then fell away.   Let's get connected and encourage one another.

These are my numbers so far this month (Goal IM). Swim Completed; Bike 9.55:63:112; Run 5.15:12.8:26.2. Not weighing myself for fear of finding out I haven't lost any pounds.....but who cares, I feel better every day (and pant feels looser). My wife actually kinda likes me again ;-). Fernando. PS: We will visit your neck of the woods this summer. Taking an Alaskan cruise with the family.
