Yea,

Midway was expecting 2" and got 9. They had a jet slide through the fence and into the traffic.

OK I'm officially insane.

Yesterday I did 6300 meters. I got to thinking that when people do the ironman thats more than 2 miles right? I can do that. Here was my set:
200 warm
2 x 650
1 x 4000
1 x 800

Heres the part that makes me insane; I wanted to do 4 miles even, which is 6600 meters. I messed up the math and stoped 300 short! What an idiot. (I was really pretty weary, the lifeguard actually asked me if I was ok).

I've been focusing on the length of my stroke. I stretch way out and push it really far back, accelerating toward the end. This has lowered my heart rate and coresponding breathing rate, making me feel like I'm out for a walk in the park.

bikingbruise - YOU ARE MY HERO! I'd have died long before that was done.

I swam my scheduled yradage for the day (1200). It went pretty good. Of course when you have a couple of cuties in the next two lanes you kinda suck it up and not look like your dying! What made em laugh was how the pool emptied out after they quit. I still had about 500 yds left so I took care of business!

Good job Gerb.  So you "took care of business" after the cuties left?  Come on dude.....not in the pool.

People swimming next to me kinda keep me fueled up. They come in, hang with me for a 500 or so and I make sure that they don't get ahead, then the eventual collapse, at which point I really start to turn it up, just to dishearten them a bit. ( I really am going to hell). Then they start on the interval training and I make sure that I stay with them there as well.

No one wants to swim with me

I do enjoy the infrequent, in shape females; they give me something to look at while I'm chewing up the yards.

Usually when I am at the pool, the U.S. Coast guard is there training. They are in lanes 1-5 and I am in lane 6. God bless America.

cuties...  they are rare... how come they dont frequent the pools more often..  maybe its just MN and the cold ... I dunno..    a few weeks ago their were three young ones just 'hanging' out in the middle of the pool and actually sitting on the lane lines....  I was swimming in the lane right next to them... it was a very satistfying session... of course I was about half way done ..so I couldn't show off... as much as I would liked to...  but I did enjoy the session more then usually... especially  about every 30 seconds or so...  lol

OK Teammates. These are totals I am looking to turn in to Renee. They will be your total up until today. At first I thought this would be the first turn in date and in my hectic week I missed that she added a column to the spread sheet for last week. Double check me (as I pulled some of these from logs). I'll turn it into Renee at about 7 am Mon. morn.

Got all my planned yardage in this week wvwn though it sometimes seem someone didn't want me to do it.  First the car wouldn't start (needed new battery).  The next day, woke up and the house furnace had shut down, went to the pool anyway, get it fixed later.

This weeks yardage - 12800

December Total - 19000

Percent of Goal - 47.5%

Well......I did it.  I ran outside in the cold and ice.  Morey has been bugging me to get my girly @ss off of the treadmill and go play in the snow.  Sunday my wife had to run a 10 miler (she's training for Boston marathon).  I decided I'd run with her for a portion of the run.  After running about 5 miles I decided to go all the way.  10 miles!  Total time 1hr 23min.  It was a fantastic run and I really enjoyed the crunching snow and ice beneath my feet.  It seemed to make the run more Zen because I had to concentrate on every foot step.  It felt great.  Thanks for the encouragement Morey!

Here's a pic of the wife and I at the end of the run.
