Thanks for the link. I do some of those exercises as part of my regular routine. This morning was my 4th straight run with no pain or nagging. Just going to continue to build mileage slowly and continue strength training. I was getting in 20-25 miles a week in training for Austin 70.3 last October, with my long runs between 10-13 miles. Hoping to get to that type of mileage in the next month with a few 3 hour runs for confidence. |

Mine has been 11 mile run, 4 hour bike on the trainer probably 75 mi and 3200 yards. Hope everyone is enjoying the ride! |

Middle Georgia | Subject: RE: Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas : Official Thread I decided to get serious about this one and work on my run, so been trying to routinely do LR's of 14-16 milers, targeting 45 mpw, hoping to build to mid 50's over the next 4-6 wks. Saturdays are 60-100 milers on the bike, plenty rolling hills here to accumulate 5000' of climbing over 100 miles. Can't wait for time change so can get my weekly volume up to 200+. Swim is my suck fest. Nursing a torn rotator cuff so want to baby cake it and not risk firing it up so much that I can't swim and end up with a DNS. I'm slow and probably not going to get significantly faster given the constraint of not being able to put serious time & effort into the pool. |

Then 15 mile run on Sunday. |

I usually split up my 4k+ swims into: 500 w/u, 500 tech, 5x400, 4x200, 200 c/d. What about you all? Hoping to get some open water swim practice starting this Saturday. |

Extreme Veteran 492 Frisco | Subject: RE: Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas : Official Thread Got in a very windy 80 mile ride on Saturday and then another windy 15 mile run on Sunday. Didnt swim this weekend and with Masters closed for Spring Break, I wasnt very motivated to get up and hit the athletic center pool this morning. My intent is to get in at least one or two OWS before Galveston in a few weeks. Maybe one this weekend and one the weekend of the 30th-31st. And then once a week leading up to IMTX. |

Just curious, what advantage do you think there is from OWS versus a regular pool swim? Prior to Galveston, I like doing a couple because after a few months of not being in open water, I like to get out and work on sighting, rounding bouys, check out the wetsuit since its been stored since September. Swimming in open water for me has a little different feel to it and I like being able to get a bit of that feel back before race day. As for the swims leading up to IMTX, mainly just because the water will be warm enough by then, and I enjoy OWS. Train in the conditions you will race in. I also do my longer runs in the heat of the day a few times leading up to the race, because its good "race prep", like riding outdoors when the wind is howling! :-) |

Member 73 | Subject: RE: Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas : Official Thread Just bought my first tri bike (Giant Trinity) so this will be my first IM using this type of bike vs my normal road bike. Had it on the trainer for an hour tonight. As far as the upper body is concerned, staying aero is not a problem. My quads on the other hand, definitely felt the difference. How long does it take for the legs to adjust since you are using different muscles on a tri bike vs a road bike? |

New user 38 San Francisco | Subject: RE: Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas : Official Thread Hey all! I am also in! Biked from SF to Sacramento this Saturday (121 miles), followed by beer and burgers to celebrate Duke's win at UNC. Then up early and ran the River City marathon in 4:10. Everything hurt and my slowest marathon of 20. At least now I know I can grid it out, if need be... |

Veteran 200 Houston, TX | Subject: RE: Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas : Official Thread Any other athletes training using Tridot coaching here? Some of the volume I am seeing some of you completely is quite high, at least in a phase still 9 weeks out. I still complete long rides/runs on the weekends but I am curious the volume you that are completing 80/90/100 miles rides are completing during the week. And of those, are you racing longer than an Olympic anytime prior to IMTX that would require such training distances now? Curious to see other peoples training plans since TriDot has been a complete new experience for me. I have been posting record paces so far early this year. |

Pro 4723 CyFair | Subject: RE: Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas : Official Thread No to TriDot, but I've seen some of their plans and our plans are similar. I won't see stupid volume until right after Galveston. Right now I've 1 to 1.5 hour trainer rides during the week and a 5 hour ride this weekend. |

Unfortunatley due to "life" I'm about 2 months behind on training. Long run has been 12 miles Long ride has been 50 Longest Brick was 50/5 My higher volumes are hitting now (and having to reduce my taper time to make sure I get in the 100's and the higher volume runs). I'm on point with my swimming though. Swam 1600m last night and will peak on that in Mid April. As this is my first IM (I've done a 70.3), not sure what to expect other than a long day, soreness, mental and physical fatigue, and hopefully at least a 16:59:59 finish). |

Member 143 Plano, TX | Subject: RE: Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas : Official Thread I've thought the same thing about the mileage some are putting in on here at this stage as well. I just have to remind myself that they likely have different goals than I do and/or are more experienced at the IM distance than my 0 attempts . While I have what I feel is a modest goal of finishing a couple hours prior to cutoff, I will be happy with an official finish! |

Veteran 319 | Subject: RE: Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas : Official Thread Hi IMTexans! Anyone heard any word on the course nutrition yet? I see Perform and Bonk as a sponsor again. Did this race have Powerbar gels last year? I was going to stock up on some gels to start using as the mileage increases in training and wanted to check. Hope everyone's training is going great! Florida | Subject: RE: Memorial Hermann Ironman Texas : Official Thread I was steady on track with my training plan and pumped to start "Peak Phase" of Fink's plan this week until the flu caught me. Now I'm stuck on the couch going CRAZY, trying to resist the urge of putting myself into a Therma-Flu induced recovery and head out for a swim. I never get sick. Why now? |
