Swim
Comments: Swim was good. Water was on the cool side but not too bad. It was wetsuit legal but I did not want to bother with it for a short swim. What would you do differently?: I can't even say remember my goggles because I had no issues with that at all. I have never trained in open water and would like to do a few but I have never had a problem in open water. Of course training would only help me but it is tough to get there with the boys. Transition 1
Comments: No issues. I picked a good spot to rack my bike. I was close to the bike out. What would you do differently?: Practice getting on bike and clipping in quickly Bike
Comments: I was nervous about the bike because I am still new with the pedals and shoes. John was texting me all morning telling me to be careful on the bike. I told him I was not going balls to to the wall on the bike because it was my first time riding with other people with the shoes. I felt pretty good and went harder than I planned. I was thrilled with my bike time and splits for the riding I have done. Like I said, it was hill after hill after hill so my time was great for me. What would you do differently?: Get more time in the saddle. Since pool swimming won't help me with my next two tris (ocean swims) I plan on using that time to ride. Transition 2
Comments: The turn at the end of the course was at the bottom of a pretty decent hill. They had us slow down considerably halfway down the hill and dismount pretty early. What would you do differently?: Nothing Run
Comments: I went harder on the bike than I planned because I wanted to see what I was capable of on the course. Because of that, I did not have as much in me for the run as I would have liked. What would you do differently?: More bricks Post race
Warm down: Grabbed a bottle of water, chatted with a few people and left. I had to grab the kids from my parents since they had plans. I was ok being by myself for the race but I was disappointed when I finished and there was no one there for me. Other than a few lowkey 5ks, John has not missed a race. What limited your ability to perform faster: Inexperienced on the bike Event comments: Race was great and I think it will really take off. It was the first year for this race put on by my local triathlon club. It is only the second year for the club. It was much more organized than I expected. Good job ladies!!! Had coffee and banana on the ride
The mile walk from parking to the race site. I also hopped in the lake for a quick swim. I was halfway from my car to the site when I realized I was 90% sure I left both pairs of goggles on my washing machine. i was flying solo for the race so I could not even send John home. I did not sweat it because I was confident I could borrow a pair. I had a few offers and borrowed from the woman next to me in transition.
