Thank you so much Andrea, reality check... maybe I should try an open water/sprint distance tri first.... there are a few options coming up soon, Last nights ride was fun but very windy. hubby and I had a great first long bike ride together though, went pretty slow and enjoyed the scenery. No deer sightings but the Bison were there and thank goodness the wind was blowing away and not toward us as we passed LOL  have a great day

Kerilynn - I'm going to agree with Andrea.  Do you want it to be a stressful experience or do you want to have fun and enjoy your day.

I'm all for going for the gusto - but making it stressful just so that you can say you did it is probably not as much fun as enjoying building up the workouts so that you are really ready.  It's early in the season and there should be lots of opportunities throughout the summer.

Hey!  Have I been kicked off the island?  I hope not.  Because I am pumped to be back in the swing of things.  It's been a real challenge.  After the first triathlon, I ran a 5 miler with my husband.  The next day, I left for a week for photography school.  8 am to 12 am schedules left me with no time to workout.  I was so glad to be at home and I was excited to get back to working out - then I headed out to the trail and BAM!  It was like a full body injury.  I don't know what happened.  I went running and right ankle, shin and hip hurt.  I was really concerned because none of those things bothered me previously and then all of a sudden it was all at the same time.  So I took it easy for another week, then began to run again. I'm starting to swim again tomorrow and the biking started today and so far no pain.  I have no idea what happened but I am better now.

My next triathlon is scheduled for late July and this time in the open water.  A little nervous about the open water but I am sure I am going to get it done!!

I've missed you all.  I'm getting ready to go update my logs.

Hi Marie,
So sorry that you had such a bad time with the injury! I didn't realize it was so severe, I am so glad to hear that you are better and it is so exciting that you will get to do another Tri in July! I will be swimming tomorrow too! I hope that goes well.  I think of you as I do my laps too!

Today we went mt. biking and I got up hills that I couldn't make it up before and went down ones a little faster than I have had the confidence to go before, It was pretty exciting, then we got home and  I ran 6 miles. I find I can get in an easy rhythm and not feel like I am really even breathing that hard on my long runs. I need to monitor my pace better I think. This week on my short runs I will be trying to learn to run a little bit faster pace without going into the panic breathing mode lol. I am encouraged. I hope that you all had a super weekend!
Keri

Kerilyn - sounds like your training is working!!! It's so great to have those workouts where you realize how far you've come and how strong you are!! Congrats!!

Marie - Keep us posted on how you're feeling.  I'm glad that you seem to be doing better and easing back in will hopefully go well.

I wanted to write to let everyone know what is going on with me.  As some of you may have noticed, I haven't been logging in many workouts over the past week or so and haven't been updating all on my progress.

Due to a medical situation, I think I am going to have to stop training for the triathlon in September.  I don't want to get into the details right now (but will after some tests are complete).  Right now I am trying to stay active, but have really slowed down what I was doing and how much I was pushing myself.  I think that the new plan will be to do my first triathlon in the summer of 2010.

I am bummbed that I won't be able to it this year, but know that I will be ready to go for next year!

Yup it is exciting. Going for a big trip tomorrow running shoe shopping gotta love it when you live in small town this is defintly exciting going to Barrie running store. Im not a good runner so i think a good pair of running shoes will help and keep me motivated. My shoes keep falling of my feet as im running so recently i have been running in my sandals at least they stay on my feet lol. So were gonna fix that. And another bike ride in the morning. My training has been a bit all over the place but hopefully it willbe good enough when i work night shift it just seems to screw things up. I do much better on the weeks i work days. oh well i will proof it to my self in gravenhurst if i done the training by cvompleting my race. I can do this...Just keep telling myself that.
