Subject: RE: OWS at Red Top Mountain for Tri2RememberI'm going this weekend. I plan to swim the 1.2 miles. Anyone else going? OPEN WATER SWIM OPPORTUNITY Swimming in a lake (open water) is a completely different experience than the pool. If you have never done an open water swim, it is highly recommended that you train in open water at least 2-3 times before your 1st triathlon. Mark your calendars for this Saturday, August 23rd for Open Water Swim Practice at Red Top Mountain ...starting at 8 a.m. There will be several kayaks in the water for safety, and you will also have an opportunity to receive critique/instruction from Swimming Coach Pete from the Concourse Triathlon Club. You will have you choice of doing 300 meters, 600 meters, 1200 meters or 1.2 miles. There is a $3.00 parking fee for Red Top Mountain State Park (cash only). Click here for directions: http://gastateparks.org/info/redtop/#directions. From the Lodge, follow the asphalt path (about 200 yards) to the rock and bench. |
