Important lesson learned at the gym today:

DO NOT stand up on the Spin bike when your quads are aching and you've just dialed down the resistance to a free wheel spin...Nothing but embarrassment comes from this...and now you have to keep spinning to show everyone watching that you do indeed know how to ride a bike so there is really no rest for the quads.

Well my quads were aching so I thought I would "spin them out" LOL - this is a Newbie using a technique when less than educated on it.   The bike was spinning faster than my legs were keeping up, that's how fast it was going.  My quads were still aching so I actually stood up, my left foot flew out of the toe straps and my right leg was now supporting my body weight, I kept my left leg out to one side so it wouldn't get hit by the left pedal and my whole body was going up and down up and down up and down and I was just hanging on for dear life to the handle bars, finally I got the timing right to get my butt back on the seat (I tried a few times but the timing was off so I kept getting the seat in the back).  Once finally seated I dialed the resistance all the way up to stop the bike and put my left foot back into the toe strap and kept going because there was no way that I was going to walk away from that bike with any pride, and the guy beside me who was doing pull ups in a very controlled manner was now completely stopped his exercise and staring at me...Soooooooooo Stupid!!!  I told my seasoned Ironman Dad about this and he was laughing so hard that he was crying.

That is priceless!  Maybe the gym has it on security cam?  Who knows, you might end up on YouTube!  Wink

Glad you're OK.  Keep training!

The OP's story sounds much better than all those "first time on rollers" YouTube's look. That video would be priceless.
