Open water swimming spots near Rochester Hills, Michigan

Hi. I moved to Michigan last year and I am desperately looking for an open water swimming spot for training near my place. There are so many beautiful lakes nearby but all of them with swimming areas limited to guarded beaches. Any recommendations for non -park but accessible to public lakes where one could swim long distances?
