Can anyone suggest a swim shop somewhere in the Cities? I want to be able to talk to someone who knows a few things about swimming and swim gear, not just the clerk that is happy to make minimum wage.

Pure Blue. They're largely an internet company but they do have a store in Plymouth. I've shopped in person and they were very knowledgeable and helpful.

Another option is Elsmore Aquatic. They are located in Apple Valley.  Here's their website:

I have only dealt with them at swim meets, but they have a store as well. They're good people. Between Pure Blue & Elsmore, you will find pretty much the same stuff. Pure Blue is remodeling now and to get at things you literally have to walk through their back room of inventory.  Both shops deal with competitive swimmers and they know their stuff.

Thanks. I'll have to see which of those is easier for me to get to - I am suburb-stupid and I get this deer-in-headlights look when people start throwing around the names of different burbs.

Thanks again for the suggestions. I wound up going to Elsmore since it is a little closer to the school I was working at. They were very helpful. I wound up getting a pair of goggles and a pair of jammers from last year that were very much on sale. That was a good trip.
