Learn how to swim :) Realistically, I would have gotten in the pool more than once before raceday

Comments:

Great day for a ride but the first mile was pretty steep (for me anyway). I must have gone out too fast because I had to stop at the corner of Bonita Canyon & Anteater drive to catch my breath. Was feeling woozy and nauseated. But I jumped back on my bike and proceeded forward. Lap 2 wasn't much better-my left calf cramped up BADLY and I thought I was going to wipe out. But I made it through...until lap three where my right calf cramped up and brought me to tears. But I made it through (slowly)
What would you do differently?:

My bike weighs a ton!!!! And I would practice with hills

Comments:

Didn't know that the course would be cross country; there was a lot of dips and cracks and rocks that made me feel wobbly throughout the run. there were a lot of really fast and talented people at this race - I felt waaaaaay out of my league. BUT I did do the first mile pretty fast for me.
What would you do differently?:

Drink more water

What limited your ability to perform faster:

As usual, I didn't train properly...I wasn't prepared for the hills in either the bike or run segments. They really knocked me down.

Rapd,

Hey you finished, which on this course is a victory. You couldn't have known about the course unless you went there like OCTrojan did, because they gave no indication that it would be so tough. I had leg cramping as well on the bike. That hill was not easy for anyone.
