Sunny
Total Time = 1h 21m 13s
Overall Rank = 319/
Age Group = C'dale 90-99
Age Group Rank = 7/10
Pre-race routine:

Packed race gear the night before. Pre-race breakfast: coffee and plain white bread rolls.
Swim
  • 12m 50s
  • 750 meters
  • 01m 43s / 100 meters
Comments:

I seeded myself at the very back of the wave as I was unsure of my swim abilities. I spent the first 400m fighting my way through the pack trying to find clear water.
What would you do differently?:

Seed myself toward the very front of the pack to avoid the 'crash and bash'.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Bike
  • 42m 9s
  • 21 kms
  • 29.89 km/hr
Comments:

I held myself back in an effort to pace my race and ensure that I finished. I felt the pace was comfortable. No aerobars.
What would you do differently?:

Add some aerobars and up the pace.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Run
  • 26m 13s
  • 5 kms
  • 05m 14s  min/km
What would you do differently?:

Train more :)
Post race
Warm down:

Plenty of fluid and fruit.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I held back as I didn't really know what my body was capable of, now I have a better idea of how I can perform I'll certainly push myself harder in the next race.

Event comments:

I had a great time. This was my first triathlon in seven years and I had forgotten how much fun they are. I'm now thinking of ways to improve my performance and have come away from the race with renewed enthusiasm. Could this be an addiction?

Great Race! Thanks for sharing your race report!
You did awesome in your age group!
Yep, I know exactly what you mean about not pushing yourself, and not knowing exactly what your body can do!
Good luck training and at your next race!
