Can't say I ate great this weekend, but doing a half marathon tends to cancel out some unhealthy eating.

Guess I should have dated my 1st weigh in.  It was 4/7, so 3# over 2 weeks.  My goal is lose 1-2# per week so still I have the energy to train.

Kim and Mark, you're doing great - your weight went down!!  Slow results are better than none at all!!

4/21 - 178.5lbs

started at 180.6

not much progress, my training has increased, I still think I'm taking in too many calories. I just can't get into the habit of making a food journal or counting my entire calorie intake. Any suggestions on what might make that easier?

If you don't mind eating the same thing every day - maybe start the week by planning a menu with a specific daily caloric intake and then just stick to it. I find it takes the guess work out of it, avoids last minute over eating mistakes and... I was horrified one day when I tracked all the little snacks - some nuts here, cookie there etc - it can sometimes add up to a couple hundred extra calories !! Who knew? It gets boring but there's something comforting in knowing every day I'll hit a specific caloric limit and not go over. Plus I switched my meals around and eat the carbs/proteins for breaky vs. dinner now and that gets me through the day easier. Good luck!

Didn't know we were going to have a new thread... posted this in the old one. Copying here.

Week 1 weigh in for me. I made a deal with myself. Goal is 10lb in 10 weeks. If I hit 1lb, stay the course. If I hit 2lb, I can go to the Chinese buffet sunday for lunch. If I hit 3lb I can eat as much as I want there and can relax the diet some this week since I'm on vacation and will be working on the house all week. Hitting 3lb puts me well ahead of pace so I'd be able to just sustain this week.

Starting weight: 220lb 23.5%
Week 1 weigh-in: 215lb 22.4%

5lb! Diet was super clean and controlled this week, trained my rearend off. I'm halfway to my ten week goal in 1 week, unless this is water loss somehow, which would probably account for about 1lb of it. So, I can eat hard to recharge tomorrow afternoon, and set a new goal for Week 2.

Week 2 goal: 214lb

Apparently my math was a bit off, I'll have to lose a lot more than 10lb to get to 20%. Oh well, if I can keep up half this pace, maybe I'll get to 20% anyway.

Plus, just as good news, ordered a Javelin road bike yesterday, so it should be here mid next week. I'll be on the road soon in a Lamborghini compared to my old bike.

Whew...

Start of Challenge 220lbs

4/21/08 : 218lbs

I am losing weight slower than I typically do, but this time I am actually eating and not using the glass of water and a big gulp of air diet. My exercise feels like its paying off and I can do more than I used to. Feel quite a bit better, and yet only lost two pounds. Shows me that feeling good isn't always tied to losing lots of poundage fast.

Keep up the great work everybody! The numbers are looking great!

I've been too busy to post until now, but as of Monday I weighed 237, so 3 pounds down. It feels slow, but at least it's going.

I'm going to weigh myself this evening. I'm about 180 now I'm guessing, hoping to get down to 160 and be lean.
