Subject: Mental Block, Hills and more Hills I think I screwed my self last week when I drove out to PA to ride the bike section of my 1st upcoming TRI. The TRI (Black Bear ) is an extended sprint 750m swim x 18 mile bike x 3.4 mile run. Everything I read about the bike section from others that completed it last year was true (very difficult ). I problem is that the bike course is all hills with not much flat sections at all. I loss my legs twice during the 18 mile loop. I fell once and had to dismount once.
Failure doesn’t suit me well. I am having a hard time trying to convince myself that I can complete the course without having to dismount, which would fall short of my goal. I keep thinking that I might have the same problems on the same two hills during the TRI. I am doubting myself before I even try. I don’t know if it was a smart thing to go out and try the course before the race or if I should go back and try again. I don’t want to have a mental bock.
I do have to mention that I did not have fresh legs due to the 25 mile ride (less then 15hrs ago ) the day before. I am hoping that this is the case. Is it a wise to go back and try with fresh legs or just wait till the race?
