Pre-race routine:

Same old drill. Water 3 hours before and some oatmeal 2 hours before.
Event warmup:

Lots more warmup than I usually do. Lots of walking around and some light stretching and several quick runs up and down the course to loosen up and get things warmed up.

PR! Sub 23-minutes! And an age group trophy! Felt good, and my pace was just about right. No feelings of going out too fast or two slow. Although the middle and last miles were a challenge to keep the legs and arms moving. My #1 concern in this race was pace, and I hit it right on. I was gunning for an age-group award, and just missed it.
What would you do differently?:

Not much. Going to keep training, keep pushing, keep getting faster.

Event comments:

Not a chip race, so there was some confusion with the times, but it really was not a big deal to me. Race organizers have a great course and a small race for all people of all abilities which I found to be really enjoyable.
