Anyone swimming Banks Channel this week?
I'm visiting my parents and I'm looking for a group to swim with. Can't let vacation get in the way of Ironman training.

There's a group swimming tomorrow and Friday as well. Friday's group starts out in front of the Blockade Runner at 6am, tomorrows probably as well. There's usually anywhere from 5-20 people of all speeds.
Hope this helps.

Can anybody swim in this group? Or do you have to be in the club? I have been trying to work on some technique and speed issues. But there isn't a masters group around, at least that I can find. Also, I don't have the $550 to join the tri club either. I am doing the Wilmington Y sprint in September and would like to get this swim completed a few times before the race.

The way I read the website, from others at my office and guys at the Y, it is a non-coached and therfore open swim to anyone. It just typically does not fit into my schedule. There are also groups that typically swim early on Saturday mornings as the Y-tri gets closer.

No, you don't have to be in the club to swim, there are people out there every day as far as I know. Friday seems to be the most popular day, but it seems like 6am is the start time. Some people go over and get out at Seapath, some go over to Seapath and then back to Blockade runner, and some I can't tell what they're doing
Come on out, let me know and I'll make sure I introduce myself.

I can't make it out this week. I have company flying in early Friday morning, for the 4th. I will make plans to be there next Friday though. Are there showers at Seapath for people to rinse off? My office does not have showers. Thanks for the invite.

Nope, no showers at Seapath, and we really try not to be very visable there. It is a private marina and they have not banned anyone, unlike a marina we used to use that asked us to stop because of the liability issue. There are outdoor showers at the beach, in the public lot next to the Oceanic Restaurant is the one that's close by.

Cool deal. I'll see if I can't get my but out of bed early enough tomorrow. Is it still on for tomorrow? Thanks.
