Age Group Rank = 5/21
Pre-race routine:

Up at 4:30 (too late), ate a piece of toast and peanut butter and half a clifbar and pounded water. Packed the car, drove over to the race, unloaded my gear and set-up transition. Didn't warm up, AGAIN. Need to leave earlier.
Event warmup:

Zero. boo...
  • 17m 33s
  • 805 meters
  • 02m 11s / 100 meters

Probably my poorest swim to date. Got punched in the face which caused me to panic in the water big time. I had to flip over on my back and float for a minute or two to regain my composure. Goggles fogged continually, couldn't spot well, felt slow.
What would you do differently?:

Try to remain more calm and make sure my goggles get anti-fog.
Transition 1
  • 01m 25s

Fairly good transition, but I had trouble getting into my shoes. Need to get some rubberbands or something.
What would you do differently?:

Not much, just move faster.
  • 37m 10s
  • 18.6 miles
  • 30.03 mile/hr

Decent ride, although I could've pushed harder on such a short ride.
What would you do differently?:

Go faster and drink a little more. Need to work on hills.
Transition 2
  • 01m 29s

Couldn't get my right sock on! Remember to vaseline them.
What would you do differently?:

  • 25m 29s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 11s  min/mile

My Garmin said I did 3.25 miles in 25:33. Who knows. got hot toward the end but ran fast for me. Need to work on breathing.
What would you do differently?:

Unzip my suit more and get faster!
Post race
Warm down:

Walked a bit and stretched later. need to stretch sooner.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Panic in the water and not pushing myself hard enough on the bike.
