YMCA of Southwestern Indiana
75F / 24C
Total Time = 1h 46m 44s
Overall Rank = 248/1928
Age Group = 45-49
Age Group Rank = 26/104
Pre-race routine:

Got up at 4:45, ate bowl of oatmeal and banana. Got a cup of coffee and drove to race sight.
Event warmup:

Some light stretching.
  • 1h 46m 44s
  • 13.2 miles
  • 08m 05s  min/mile

My first mile split was 7:45 and I thought "whoa, I am going way too fast!" I settled down though and got into a nice "cruising speed". I told myself that I would not look at my HR for the entire run and just race by feel. I didn't look at it and though I felt like I was going too fast and wanted to negative split, I decided to just hold the pace. I didn't quite negative split but my 10K time was a PR!
What would you do differently?:

Nothing. I was running at 100% of my LT according to my self tests and was sufficiently tired and hurting by the finish.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around, drank a Gatorade, ate some food.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Event comments:

Nice race. Would do it again.
