Comments:

Should er was bothering me. entry in to water was poor. Googles leaked a bit. Otherwise, I wa able to make it to the end. I saw my wife and daughter in the stands before my start. It was a really good feeling to see them there supporting me.
What would you do differently?:

train more on longer swims
Transition 1
  • 04m 26s
Comments:

Wore running shoes. Made start easier. Saw Shari and Emma cheering me on as I ran to transition area. Kept me going strong.
What would you do differently?:

Need tri laces to get shoes on faster
Bike
  • 1h 00m
  • 13.5 miles
  • 13.50 mile/hr
Comments:

Wind was hard. Arms were sore.
What would you do differently?:

Resadjust seat to more parallel. Need a road bike with aero bars to reduce drag
Transition 2
  • 02m 23s
Comments:

Already had running shoes on. Took time to refuel. Could have gotten out faster.
Run
  • 40m 7s
  • 3.1 miles
  • 12m 56s  min/mile
Comments:

Legs were really heavy. Arm was hurting. Not able to run for more that a few minutes at a time. Able to talk to Shari as she ran along side me with Emma in the stroller. It was neat to have them there.
What would you do differently?:

Decide on a run/walk pace ahead of time. Start out with the walk.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around. Stretch a little. Took in a lot of fluids.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Poor nights sleep the night before. Did not train well the last few weeks due to pain in arm and shoulder. I was lucky to finish. But it was my first tri and I DID IT!

Congratulations on the race.  Those hills and wind were a little tough on the way out.  Good job putting your mind to it and making it through the pain.
