Subject: Stroke training reminder/schedule

Hey all - Just a reminder, that tomorrow and next Tuesday (1/20 and 1/27) are the last of the "freebie" days for stroke training at Mesquite Groves.

Just a clarification - This is not primarily coaching sessions, as in "ok, do X warmup, then Y, then we'll do Z", this is stroke fixing. Such as "Wow, you really cross over your head, you need to do this drill and that drill" kind of instruction. This is not intended to take the place of a masters swim class or anything like that.

At the moment the schedule is going to be the 2nd and 4th Tues of every month, 7:30p at the Mesquite Groves aquatic center (Just slightly west of Val Vista and Riggs on Riggs road). I will however be there every Tuesday this month for free, so that you can get a sample of my instruction style/theory.

I've had a couple requests for alternate days, I'm trying to work my schedule to make them fit. Sorry if I haven't responded to a couple PM's, it's been a weird week.

Current costs are $35/month for the sessions, another $15 on top if you also want structured workouts.

PM me with any questions! :D

John

Heh...what do you need to walk for? You'll be floating in the water. AND, if I can make it after walking 3 miles of the 1/2 with cramps, you better be there! :D :D

I imagine Jot will be there as well.

I know how you feel!

I followed my race with an afternoon of Mexican food and about three pitchers of margaritas. Not the best post race recovery plan. The swim should help get things moving again.

I vote we start in the far right lanes. They have a well to sit in and talk and that way we can be contiguous if other people show up.

I'm thinking of a little swimmy tonight. I got some new trunks and goggles the other day. Time to see if they work.

I remembered you telling me that when Hannah was throwing up Saturday. :>X  She ended up with strep though and when I called the school they said there are tons of kids out.

Next time keep your germs over there in your hood would ya?

What fun would it be if I didn't share?

If it's any consolation my throat is a little scratchy. I'm hoping it just stays that way.

Poopers.  I think Rick was going to try to make it after his meeting if he could swing it, but looks like he could not.

I bet lots of people would show up for a Tuesday night masters class and even pay for it. Jus sayin. Haha!

Sorry John-

My meeting lasted until 7:30 and I had to pick up my daughter from a friends house. This left no time for swimming. I was looking forward to getting into the pool.

I could take whatever you dish out!!! :-)

But seriously, I don't think I am the only one who would like this.  There are many of us doing IM this year, and many who just need to improve their swimming for whatever races they have planned.  We have learned that if we plan a group training, we are more likely to show up, and we can peer-pressure each other into coming when we don't feel like it.  I for one REALLY need at least one night a week of a masters type swim where someone else is in charge of pushing me. I really enjoyed this when I was getting my one on one coaching because she always pushed me harder and farther than I would push myself, and I need that.  I would even be willing to give 30 or so bones a month for it. If we had our own "masters" class like on Tuesday nights, then we have OWS on Thursday nights, then another on your own swim over the weekend.... that would be PERFECTO for me.  BUT....we need to get a group chime in here.  Who all would be interested in a Masters type workout for us one night a week??? We will have to pay John for his coaching, so this is something we would really need to commit to.  We don't have to start it right away...maybe April? Let everyone get done with their running races, and get back into Tri-mode.  (I am just talking out loud here).  So if you are interested, please chime in so we can find out where the group is at.  Even if John decides we are dorks that he doesn't want to work with (like that could EVER happen)! I would like to pursue finding someone who would be willing to coach a masters class for us, so knowing who all wants in would be helpful.

(Sporty.....I am trying to not talk money so I don't break the rules.) :-)

I agree with everything that Tanya said. My only other thought would be to consider fnding another pool that would be more cenralized so others can make it. I do not live too far away from Mesquite Groves so I have no problem with thaat location.
