any DISH subscribers out there?  I just found out there is a dispute between CBS (Viacom) and DISH  (EchoStar)  and about 10 channels have been dropped until the deal is settled.  My son will be thrilled!  No Dr. Phil today!  LOL  But wait til he sees that there's no VH1 or MTV

My wife read somewhere that the increase per subscriber would have been 6 cents for them not to dump the channels we lost.  If I remember correctly, they didn't mind a 3 dollar a month increase a while back, why do they think that I would mind a 6 cent increase.  I have the choice of local cable so good bye dish network!

I'm soooo glad I picked DirecTV. It's cheaper too.

Granted, I haven't turned on my TV in over a week but hey, I've still got it.

Yeah, we've got that Ellen...no channel 4 out of Boston. My wife is going into Dr. Phil withdrawl pains! Guess it's time to turn up the exercise notch at the health club just a bit.

of course DISH is saying that it's much more than 6 cents. We may never know how much it really is. We also have Comcast because my husband gets a deal from work that lowers our cost of Broadband as long as we have basic cable. So we have it, but don't use it. All we would have to do is run a different cable I guess.

Anyhow, I just realized that Comedy Central is gone. My son is going to be mad!

Well we lost the Noggin channel and some other kids stations my son watches in the moring before we all leave for work/daycare ect...I wasn't too happy and I did hear about the 6 cents per subscriber but remember where the info comes from.  Creative accounting is what the business world is very good at doing, also for anyone who follows the market and company earnings reports knows that if i company misses earnings estimates by a penny the stock can fall several points.  That penny represents millions of dollars on the whole.  Anyway in the business I am in I see both sides and both sides are probably telling a form of the truth at least the part that makes them NOT the bad guy.  However, digital cable may be the way to go now.....I see Comcast signed a nice deal with Viacom and the kids shows are on there now.

I spoke with a Comcast installer a few weeks ago and he said the only reason he works for a cable company is because it pays better than sat companies.  He said satellite provides a better signal (which I knew, hubby fixes TVs) and offers more choices at (usually) a lower cost.  To get all I get on DISH on Comcast would cost about $40 dollars more, about the same with hubby's new discount, but he wants to keep the sat.  I for one am glad DISH isn't letting Viacom run roughshod all over us.  Keeping costs in line has to start somewhere.

I'd be fine without TV....until it was time for baseball, TdF, or football!
