Looks like it'll just be a 5k, 15k, and half marathon in 2011.  That's still a pretty good distance festival.  If you want a Gasparilla finishers medal for the 26.2, better get it next year!

Citing the strain the event places on city services and resources, Gasparilla Distance Classic Association race director Susan Harmeling said Sunday the marathon will cease to be part of the race weekend beginning in 2011.

I'm in I want to do it as my second marathon than especially since it is in Tampa where I consider this home!! When can we sign up for it??

Registration opens June 1. I am sad about this, but I will be there in 2010 to run the last one.

This is sad. Tampa was my first marathon and I have run it three times. I believe there were about 800 people in it the first year I ran and there was no half marathon. The field was grown substantially but most seem to be selecting the half.

I'll be there again this year doing the whole thing!  Michelob Ultra!  15K and 5K Saturday and the full on Sunday!  How could I not do the last full?  I've run the full twice, the 1/2 about 4 and countless 15 and 5Ks!!!  Makes me sad they're cancelling the full, but what a party we'll have at the finish line!  Good luck everyone!  See you there!

Im doing the Ultra also, did it once back in 2007.

I hate we are losing the full, any real reason why?

I read there's not enough participation in the full.  I think we should pack it this year and convince them to keep it!
