Pre-race routine:

Normal Breakfast, did not get much rest, did not get to bed until 12:30am. Up at 5am.
Event warmup:

Swam 100 yds and stretched
Swim
  • 00m
  • 1640 yards
  • / 100 yards
Comments:

Found a good pace and had a good swim. Had a bottle neck at the first buoy but after that was able to find clear water to swim.

What would you do differently?:

Push harder and work on the Bilateral breathing, it was tought to Bilateral due to the waves.
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

Went pretty well. Had a bit of problem getting one foot clipped in but no big issue.
Bike
  • 1h 22m 23s
  • 24.85 miles
  • 18.10 mile/hr
Comments:

Bike was not shifting right and was shifting on its own therfore I was fighting the rigth gear the whole race. Also the first time with new shorts - yeah you supposed to try out new gear before race day well - well the shorts were pinching me the whole ride so i could never get real comfortable in the saddle. Also I need a new saddle the one that came with this bike is terrible. Outside of that I was pretty please with bike
What would you do differently?:

New saddle definitley and maybe a different pair of Tri shorts.
Transition 2
  • 00m 56s
Comments:

Transition went pretty good had Bike Valet so it made transisiton that much easier
Had to didg thru bag to get shoes, race belt and hat out. No set-up permitted for T2.
Run
  • 1h 07m
  • 6.21 miles
  • 10m 47s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt pretty decent out but fell a part on way in. Started to cramp on 5.5 K, fought these from that point. Had to stop and walk - was overheating. Got light headed, dizzy - not a good situation. Walk the better portion and slowed run way down. Everyone was passing me, but I really did not care.
What would you do differently?:

Better Hydration on Bike. Also start run out slower. Need to get more runs in on hot days to get body adjusted to the heat (I had no runs for a week plus in the heat so I am sure this did not help)
Take Electolytes on Bike.
Post race
Warm down:

Cooled down with water on body also drank plenty of gatorade and water. Did some minor stretching.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Heat acclimation.

Event comments:

Need more water stations on bike - only had one on bike course and it was at the bottom of a hill where you were going fast was unable to stop and so I was unable to get water. Should move to a slower part of course so hand off could have been done better. I heard others had same problem.
Need carpet at T1 lots of rocks, very tough on feet going for the swim to the bike.
