LBS should have it. Not noticeably more (or less) than a standard tire.

Easiest way to do it is to get a beat-up or really cheap rear wheel (make sure the cassette is compatible though) and change the whole wheel.

I use just some really old tough tires, but they do sell trainer specific tires. But im cheap so i use my old ones and work just fine. About the time it takes to change the tire, well it depends on your tire changing skills but really not more than 10 minutes.

I just used an old continental gatorskin when training for IMAZ. I ended up doing all my long rides (from 3 hours all the way up to 6.5 hours) on the trainer because the winters in Chicago are so beautiful.

It held up nicely and wasn't even a new gatorskin.

I got a TACX trainer specific tire for $60 NZD, so could pick 1 up for maybe $30-40 US dollars from online stores. I found most local bike shops didn't have one so had to get it shipped from across the country for a few dollars extra. I love it so far, quiter and less damage to the tire.

I use a Continental Home Trainer tire. Great great tire for a trainer with little to no slip at all (I have a computrainer). The key benefit for me is the lack of tire slip vs. burning up tires. Only downside? its a PITA to put on and take off. For whatever reason, it is the absolute tightest tire that I have ever had to put on. Definitely get a cheap wheel and just "set it and forget it" if you can.
