Comments: I seeded myself behind the 7 minute pace sign and in front of the 8 minute one. I ran into a friend from college who was running the race for the 1st time. It turned out that we were both shooting for the same time (75 minutes). So she asked if I could pace her and I obliged. We started out at what I thought was a deent pace. It turns out that I forgot to realize that our chip time was more than a minute behind the clocks, so we really went out fast. I knew this wasn't a pace I could sustain for the whole 10 miles, so I decided to stick with her for 5 and then ease off a bit. What actually happened was that I lasted for 4 and then took it easy from 4-7, just making sure I was under 8 minute splits. At mile 7, I felt good and knew I had less than than 5K to go, so I picked it up for 8, a little more for 9 and turned in my fastest split for the last mile. And I was really excited b/c I had PR'd by 2:35. What would you do differently?: I guess i would have been more fresh had I not ridden a TT or a 5K the day before but no regrets. Post race
Warm down: I was soaked, so I immediately proceeded to the gear bus and got changed. Then I consumed a double serving of Endurox and then I walked around the grounds looking for friends. I also got my BF % tested and the last time I had it down was @ last years race, so it was icing on the cake to see that I dropped from 15.2 to 10.6 and I was also 10 lbs lighter @ 192. Event comments: My 3rd straight year running this race and this is 1 of my favorites that just seems to be getting bigger each year. Road a 16 mile TT in the rain on Saturday morning, then ran a 5K after that. And then went on a pub crawl from 3 - 12.
Not exactly the best way to get ready for a race.
Woke up @ 6am, had coffee and a muffin with PB. Ate a banana and sipped cytomax right up to race start.
It was raining all morning but stopped about 15 minutes before the start.
Weather was perfect for running.
Popped 2 tylenol 8 Hours and 3 Endurolytes.
Consumed a carboom 15 minutes before the race.
